just heard it on news, they were talking about muslims integrating into germany and merkel now has a massive task on her hands to find a solution to the problem, they talked about the problems that faced france and jaques chirac banning of the burhka etc when he was in charge, german security experts are now saying that they believe isis teams are active in germany asfter coming into the country disquised as refugees , wow really !! .

for me , the fact is that muslims cant intergrate fully with western society, i mean look what they are taught in their koran , such verses here - “Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God is with the righteous.” Quran 9:123 also here - Quran 8:59-60 / Quran 2:286 / Quran 3:147 / Quran 8:12 /

“Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another…” Quran 5:51

so there you have it in black and white, how to hell can these people fit in with us, i cannot see any solution to the problem.

I always thought that 'div' or 'divvy' came from the North-East. When I first started teaching in Newcastle I had to ask my class what it meant. A boy told me that it meant someone thick as when you asked them a question they would reply (Geordie dialect), 'Aa divvent knaa' (I don't know).

Maybe it was, jd. But it was definitely a word used by the people ( of my generation ) of Wigan and surrounding areas. I hadn't heard it before and thought it must be a local word.

Agreed – but as I have pointed out before, the Answerbank does not operate an admissions system based on how much you know about what you wish to speak about. It is welcoming to all-comers, experts, professed experts, novices, and people so ignorant they can’t eat with a knife and fork. So lack of knowledge is no bar to expressing an opinion.

I wouldn’t hold your breath! Last time I apologised to Naomi she was dismissive and offensive – so that is not going to happen. Naomi is perfectly capable of giving as good as she gets, and I have stated preciously that I object to her tone when addressing me, and I decline to debate directly with her as a consequence – one of the other built-in advantages of the Answerbank, I don’t have to be answerable to her, or indeed to you.

Oh, and asking for an apology for someone else, of someone you have referred to as a ‘balloon’ makes you a hypocrite, but unlike you, I am not judgemental, so we can let that one go, no need to apologise.

Perfectly easily. I have no evidence other than Naomi’s willingness to tell me, that she actually knows anything about Islam at all. She is entitled to her view – as am I – but that does not make her right all the time.

I offer my view. I am not trying to pretend my view is backed up by knowledge, but as I have said, knowledge is not required to have an opinion.

If you don’t like mine, please feel free to ignore my posts, but there really is no need to come on here and ask for apologies or decry me, or insult me personally. If you wish to add to the debate, then please go ahead – if you have more of this level of stuff, then save your time.

I am pretty sure that divvy came from the Divis Flats tower block on Belfast's Falls Rd. If you were a bit unpredictable or inclined to be unconventional you earned the sobriquet divi after the way some of the residents were known to behave during the "troubles".

As a Mancunian myself, I believe that 'divi' originates from the 'dividend', which one received from the co-operative wholesale society, or 'coop', where customers could become in effect, 'shareholders', and collecting one's divi (which was microscopic) became a kind of back-handed insult demonstrating, in a bit of a joke, poverty.
