Respect 3t You have withdrawn £14,000,000,000 over the years. (^_*)
I have used machines which did exactly that, but they stopped offering that facility a year or two ago. I always withdraw the same odd sum of money, so I know if anyone has stolen or fiddled my card when I get my statement. I used to get " would you like to withdraw £ *** ? " when I used the card, but not any longer. It was useful and simple, and I would welcome it back.
Just shows, don't it. 14 billion squid in the old churchill and still not happy, innit.
How do you withdraw an "odd" sum, when cash is usually offered in £10 increments? (Sometimes £5 at my bank).

beunchico: " use a contactless card to pay for a pint in the pub, for my rail ticket to get there and for nearly all my shopping. If I do find that I might need some cash I simply use the cashback facility in my local Co-op (or in Asda, in a Wetherspoon's pub etc, etc) to obtain it. I hardly ever use a cash machine. " - yeah I love waiting for 15 of your kind to individually buy half a shandy paying by card, makes my day! No in shops bars etc I pay cash can't be arissed with all that farting about.
Contactless is much faster than cash if you have to wait for change.

togo: I might have exagerated that a bit!

ZM, it would be if it worked but in my experience, you have to wait while they have 16 goes at it, "try it now" etc etc, gawd I'd drunk my pint in that time!
At least we now don't have to wait for the cashier to find the old machine that would take an imprint of the card, check the signature etc.

I have some contactless cars but I have disabled them function to stop the harvesters.
Works first time every time for me.
Maybe chris etc can survive cashless in cities but where I live lots of shops don't have contactless and many charge about 40p if you are spending less than £5 on a debit card.
I do wish you'd all stop clicking on my avatar. I'm getting a headache!
Sorry, wrong thread. :-(
As Chris has pointed out,I can see cash disappearing. Have pensions paid into my online bank account, most of my bills paid by direct debit, why would I risk being mugged by carrying cash about ?
