There is not doubt Tommy is a political prisoner.
The support he is getting cant be ignored.
Now it is protests, next it will be violence.
People have reached breaking point.

I say that there could have been ramifications from his (unwelcome) presence, and you disagree.

I acknowledge that there were very good personal reasons why Yaxley/ Lennon/Robinson ought to have kept his trap shut and the 'record function' on his 'phone off, and you disagree.

He was taken to Court where the 'suspended' part of his previous sentence (for doing the same thing) was revoked, which I believe was entirely appropraite, and you disagree.

He probably has accepted it and, given the chance, I daresay he'd do it all again.

I for one think the sentence was disproportionate, the rapidity with which the entire process was completed highly alarming and will in no way deter Mr Robinson from resuming his stance when he's freed. If anything he'll be incentivised by what he perceives to be a highly flawed judicial system.

Additionally, support for Mr Robinson appears to be growing rather than waning.

He knows what he’s doing I’d say. Without thesr deliberate violations of court orders he sinks back into anonymity. This is a very good way to get publicity and whip up a persecution mentality

I tend to agree with NoMercy on the disproportionate and alarming speed he was 'done' but to be honest I cannot condone at all what he did.

Attempting to interfere with the judicial system is plain stupid and very wrong.

Theland - you are assured in your position regarding 'Tommy Robinson' - that he is a victim of government suppression, and he is a folk hero, freedom fighter, and all round good egg.

There are those who agree with you, and those that do not - but this debate is really not getting anywhere, except for people endlessly to repeat their opposing views.

From such pseudo-interest, is 'Tommy Robinson's income and reputation constructed.

It was neither disproportionate nor alarming. I can understand how it might appear so but contempt of court is normally dealt with swiftly by the trial judge and there are sound reasons for doing so.

If you watch his videos (carefully edited, of course) he comes across as a calm and rational person discussing matters of genuine public concern. His image supersedes his message.

The major difference between Mr Mandela, and Doctor King, and Ms. Parkes, and virtually everyone who has fought, and indeed died for the cause of civil liberty, is that it was never 'about them' - it was always about the change they were trying to make in the world.

The issue with 'Tommy Robinson' is that the focus is entirely on him personally, and not the changes he claims he wants to make.

Unlike the figures to whom he is incorrectly compared - he is a self-aggrandising egotist who needs publicity and attention like the rest of use need oxygen.

Robinson has always surrounded himself with his football hooligan mates. It is mainly those people who are causing disorder weekly, in their campaign to free him.
