What happened with the Romans and what happened with the Spanish and the Portuguese in the past is totally irrelevant to me in 2018. I don't want Islam to get a grip on any sort of power in my country. If that makes me Islamaphobic, so what... I really don't care.

Even in a political sense, then, Islam is hardly unique, which still leaves the question why the image is focusing only on that, to the exclusion of all other history. On the religious comparison, it ignores Christian influence in the Americas; on the political front, it overlooks pretty much every empire that has ever existed.

Saying that "it just isn't" doesn't make it so, Naomi. If I am indeed seeing things, explain to me why else it is that the image has omitted so much history and so much context.
Our civilised country never allows religion and politics to mix ...

Except for the bishops in the House of Lords, and the Queen being the head of Church and State, etc ...
Yes, Jim. It does make it so. What you claim is there .... isn’t. Whether or not you want to attempt to negate the reality of Islam’s conquests by trailing through history around the world is irrelevant. It is a simple statement of fact. No more, no less.
Context matters. If you can't appreciate that Naomi, then that's your fault, not mine.

Trying to paint Islam as unique, as the image clearly is doing, is misleading and wrong. It's plain as day that this is the point of the image, selecting as it does cases that are in some cases just plain wrong and are in others a massive oversimplification of the story.
I was going to try and clarify but I'm running out of ways to state what should be blindingly obvious: what is missed out of any argument is as important as what is stated. And what one chooses to ignore says rather a lot about the strength of, and purpose behind, one's argument.

Love the BA.
As the person who made the most hysterical faux-pas re Islam ever seen on t'internet, jim, I'd have expected you to keep a low profile. ;)
jim360// Time was when, by the standards of the time at least, Islam was at the forefront of the world, scientifically, politically, and morally. Freedom of religion existed even within the Caliphate.//

Snigger.
Apart from anything else ask yourself why, if your moslem heroes were such benevolent fellows, there are so many countries with a 99% muslim population.
Ask yourself where all the Christians, Jews, etc went .
Islam is the greatest evil in our world.
Resistance to it will escalate as its influence increases.
Interesting point. We all know (don't we?)that there are more Muslims in India than there are Muslims in Pakistan. At Partition I think Muslims constituted a little over 20% of the Indian population, andnon-Muslims in Pakistan (including today's Bangladesh) constituted a similar percentage. Does anybody know what the percentage of non-Muslims in Pakistan and Bngladesh is today?
