//he is a British Icon//

I can't help thinking that's stretching it a bit. Even I have heard of people deemed to be British icons.
"I can't help thinking that's stretching it a bit. Even I have heard of people deemed to be British icons."

Naomi, there are scenes in the music industry i'm sure you've never realised were there, let alone who their icons are.
spath, they might be considered icons among their own fans - but a British icon is something rather more.
you know stormzy was the first black british solo artist to headliner at Glastonbury? If that's not pioneering i don't know what is.

He is leading UK hiphop and grime. He's also a very nice man.

Naomi, i didn't say fans. I said scenes, AKA culture. He is an icon, even if you haven't heard of him.
//I suppose the East London girls from Bethnal Green were singing 'Onward Christian Soldiers'as they marched off to join Daesh in Syria!//

No I don't suppose they were but neither do they represent the majority of Muslims and i'm frankly amazed that anyone would think most Muslims wouldn't sing with most Christians.
Icon to some or not I don't think that matters, he's deep and thoughtful and I like a lot of his work.

This doesn't excuse the shoddy goings on at Glasto this year though.
I think he dun good. Good on him. Stand up to the elitists.
spath, //Naomi, i didn't say fans. I said scenes, AKA culture. //

You said neither. You said he's a British icon. No. Mick Jagger is a British Icon, David Bowie is a British Icon, Elton John is a British icon, the queen is a British Icon - in fact Queen is a British icon. Stormzy? Who he?
Spath as I understand it he's had one single and one album reach number 1 in the U.K. Charts.
"there are scenes in the music industry i'm sure you've never realised were there, let alone who their icons are."

Naomi, you're naming people from your generation. We're living in a new world, where you are now dated, and a new wave of life is upon us. If you ever wish to go on a date, where i could show you the new youth culture, then hit me up, doll.
Nothing more iconically British than a Stormzy in a teacup.
Haha! You are funny spath. :o)
Stormzy represents UK grime with Skepta. Some would say they are icons. (Naomi wouldn't).
LOL douglass :D

Naomi, seriously though, ask anyone under the age of 31 if they know who stormzy is.
but more importantly, ask them if they think he is iconic, or represents the UK grime culture.
She's not alone either :-(
Haha! Quite right. Naomi wouldn't. (Skepta? Who he/her/them/that/it?).
Grime, may be one of the scenes you never realised was a thing. let alone who it's UK icons are ;)

Let me buy some tickets, and take i'll us to one of his 'shows'. A can of fizzy pop and a bag of allsorts?
