Whether you fall into the group classified as ‘at risk’, or are over 70 and advised to remain at home, or younger and fit but requested to abandon your social life, will you comply - and if not why not?

Me? I think we are duty bound.

Of course we will comply, as you rightly say Naomi we feel we are ALL duty bound to do so. Chillidoubt must feel like banging his head against the wall with some of the responses here. It’s not much to ask to put your social life on hold for a few months is it? Better that than catch this virus or continue the spread of it. I despair at times...

I get a newspaper every day.
The trouble is, shopping more often IS essential if stuff is being rationed and we want to avoid doing it in bulk
Most people need to go shopping every other day for something.
And I don’t think anyone is seriously advising otherwise
The government advised steps such as, working from home where possible. Not travelling unless absolutely essential, I assume that means going to shops etc.. No to go to public places such as pubs, clubs, theatre etc..
I only need to shop for food once a week at the very most.
Teacake I have no evidence that chilldoubt works in the NHS. He could be anyone, therefore I will not succumb to scaremongering, nor thank him for all the good work he's doing -my prerogative

Yet you still decided to venture onto the Internet whilst presenting yourself as a fairly lucid adult, so who’s fooling who? As for the non-existent thanks, oh please, spare me! Certainly wouldn’t want gratitude just for doing my job but especially from you.

You obviously aren’t availing yourself of the wealth of knowledge and factual medical evidence that is awash on renowned and secure media platforms(BBC, Sky, Reuters etc). How sad and ironic.
Happy surfing, as asked please delete all my content on this thread, Ab Editor.
Hope you all stay safe and healthy in the coming weeks.
If any stuff should be deleted here it's those who are trying to pretend that this isn't serious, not those who are trying to warn us that it will be.
Chill, your words should stay, whether any of us find the truth inconvenient or unpalatable.

Yesterdays tribute at Wembley Arch said it.

Whether others deem it right or wrong, everyone is entitled to comment on any subject raised here - and that's how it should be. I think some people are finding any excuse not to comply. Like Chilld, I hope they keep well too.
People are entitled to comment for sure, but they aren't entitled to spread misinformation and doubt at a time when healthcare professionals and other experts must be listened to and respected.
chilldo
you are a senr ODA in an operating theatre innit ?
forgive me if I am wrong

that was why I got so narky over the difference between a virus and a bacterium (wh evry fule kno etc etc ....)

after the totally gormless and potentially harmful MMR and ant-vaxxer spat of a few weeks ago on this very site- I thoroughly approve of the moderators putting the blue pencil thro posts that pose a danger to the public health
a very sensible course of action if I am allowed to say so

oh does anyone know the lag time between Wuhan lock down and the peaking of their death rate?
.

if it were five days ( I think it was longer) before you saw an effect and the doubling rate of disease is also five days
THEN the illness rate per day in spain will rise from 3000 to 6000 - cases a day
oo-er mrs !

Anyone who watches or listens to the news, or reads a newspaper, is aware of what the health professionals are saying. Whether they believe it or not is their choice. Censoring opinions on a board like this is simply wrong.
It’s interesting to look at the Italian statistics: almost all the deaths are of old people, as in really old people of which Italy has more than anywhere else in Europe.
But it seems that unlike here the Italians know how to behave in supermarkets, with no reports of shortages or panic buying
// Whether others deem it right or wrong, everyone is entitled to comment on any subject raised here//

hear hear
as someone who has been censored for not keeping to whatever someone wanted - I can only applaud this comment
and wonder when we are gonna start .....
// Censoring opinions on a board like this is simply wrong.//

yes yes - hoorah for that lady !
Censoring opinions is wrong. Censoring misinformation is certainly correct.
ChillDoubt, just as you are, I'm allowed to surf the Internet to my heart content, replying and giving my opinions as I see fit.

Considering I'm in the very high risk category believe me I've
availed myself' of probably as much, if not more, information from medical websites as you have.

The difference between you and me is I don't proport to have 'insider' knowledge then use that knowledge to frighten the bejeebers out of vulnerable folks.

Do you realise there could be folks reading this that are scared stiff they may end up in ITU and get the plug pulled out? How many of those do you reckon may not want to present to the doctor with symptoms and prefer to stay at home as they fear they will die in hospital anyway?

Carry on...…...

No Jim it isn't. This place doesn't require posts to contain factual information and it doesn't claim that all information posted here is factual. If it did it would have scant membership.
Nobody's giving misinformation, jim.
CD is being rather precious, imo.
"Teacake I have no evidence that chilldoubt works in the NHS. He could be anyone, therefore I will not succumb to scaremongering, nor thank him for all the good work he's doing -my prerogative"

Did you not see the sky news link Chilldoubt provided? Or was that video staged like the moon landings...
Especially at a time like this, the idea that quality control of information is somehow a threat to the integrity of this site or any other one is ludicrous.
