An anti-racism campaign group is urging Britons to “take the knee” on their doorsteps for a socially distanced protest in solidarity with protesters in the US.

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) has organised the protest for 6pm on Wednesday as part of a day of action against discrimination in response to the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

I won’t.

Like Woofy, I'd get down okay, but never get back up again!

Bobbi //a peaceful protest yes, I would support them//

Surely bending the knee is a peaceful protest. When Black Lives Matter make a statement condemning the unrest, I may consider backing them, until then, as sympathetic as I am to Mr Floyd and his family, it's a solid no.
denton: "take the knee? Who made that ridiculous phrase up? " - no one, it's BEND the knee and it comes from GOT.
In my own way Mozz
/// I’d never get back up again///
:0/
Then the thinking on that website is bananas if that’s anything to go by.

No, I won’t - it is a pointless gesture.
Not according to the anti racism groups,Tora.plenty mentions of Footballers doing it.
NUFC are doing it Denton ( local news)
Definitely not. What was done to that poor man was dreadful, but the perpetrator has been charged- end of story.
// The septics clearly have some racism but guess what? If you don't resist arrest you don't get a copper kneeling on your neck! //

Resisting arrest is not a capital crime. So even if you had a point, which you don't, it's a point that is rotten to the core. Never mind that police are meant to be trained to deal with this in a way that doesn't leave people dead; never mind that many police in the US routinely seem to lose control and attack unprovoked people. Never mind that they break into the wrong house and shoot its owner.

Check your ignorance.
Bending or taken it Bobbi.lol.
I wonder though, has "taking the knee" been chosen to support BLM/remember George Floyd because of it's symbolism, or to antagonize Donny, given his hatred of the act when initiated by Colin Kaepernick throughout the NFL season of 2016/17?

And if this is readily accepted and practiced throughout America, should Mr Kaepernick now be seen as a visionary of black civil rights, and be forgiven by the NFL, allowing him to join a team once again, if he wishes to do so?

GOT my April!
The term, 'Taking the knee' originates in American Football. Quarterbacks do it on receiving the ball. It stops play for a short period of time.
It is also a sign of respect and concern when a player is hurt.
The term dates back to about 1920.
You know nothing, TTT. Now that's GOT;-)
*Taking*
I've just pulled up a load of ground elder, can I count that as bending the knee??
halleluia ! Ah take the knee every sunday !

[I am keeping a straight face and being - deadly - serious]
^
1960, not 1920, begging my pardon.
Indeed, Mozz. How typical that many in the US Right who are calling for peaceful protest are the same ones who got so offended by somebody kneeling at the start of a football game.
// The septics clearly have some racism but guess what? If you don't resist arrest you don't get a copper kneeling on your neck! //I

Tora, how is laying on the floor, nearly motionless, moaning that you cannot breathe "resisting arrest"? It's police brutality, plain and simple.
give im hell Ken
or
leave im alone Ken - he aint worf it !
What does GOT mean?
As with many other correspondents I dont want to associate with murder, violence and looting so thats a big NO.
