No, they were doing it during the National Anthem, because any other time during the match it wouldn't be noticed or effective. Trump said it was a slight against all American veterans, American vets said (along the lines of) "No it isn't, it's a democratic right to protest, and that's one of the things we fought for".

I don't think an arrest was attempted on DC and he therefore didn't resist. Should he have been tasered anyway to cheer up the lefties?
