//You dont actually know any Tories do you?
There are plenty of left wingers who want what you have just described too. It's only human nature to want to better yourself so the species survives. Those that dont will fall by the wayside and hopefully not procreate dragging the rest of us down with them. Darwin at its best.//
Are you quoting from Origin of Species?
Sounds more like Mein Kampf! Lol.
The righties are particularly rabid today.
Wouldn’t be because the government are failing badly and the country is going to the dogs in turmoil, is it?
Reality is dawning, their time in power will be at an end shortly, best stop ignoring the writing on the wall.

The problem is, youngmaf, that Darwin's theory falls down in modern societies (particularly the UK). Darwin would explain that those unable to help themselves would fall by the wayside, fail to procreate and so their deficiencies would not be replicated in future generations (in simple terms "the survival of the fittest"). What has happened in many "developed" countries (and in the UK in particular) is that whilst developing a laudable system to help those who cannot help themselves, many of those who certainly can help themselves won't, but they too prosper from that same system. This leads to the situation where perfectly fit and able people adopt a lifestyle where the State (i.e. taxpayers) provide for their every need, increasing their income every time they knock out another child. So they continue to procreate, their offspring inherit their characteristics and adopt similar lifestyles. We are now in the situation where some families have seen four generations where nobody works.
Until and unless that situation is remedied this country will not prosper because it is paying far too many people to sit at home eating McDonalds and guzzling cans of lager.

New Judge,
//We are now in the situation where some families have seen four generations where nobody works.//
Not seen any evidence of that but if we have maybe it’s because there have been too many Tory governments?
After all, the OP is generally fond of reminding ABers how many years ‘real Labour’ have not been in power for?

//Labour will put the country back on its feet.//
Looks like they’re gonna have to after the last 3 disastrous years.
Thankfully though I doubt they’ll crash the economy nor put pensions in danger with a pathetic ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme for former employers, party donors and the super-rich.
I’m confident they won’t do that.

The truth is the present government went ahead with a fiscal event but decided to bypass the detail.
Quite a few in the Tory party had a lucid moment and realised it was economic and political suicide and told the government as much.
The government ‘listened’, but only after the Pound crashed and the markets went schizo, not unexpectedly.
The problem now is that nobody trusts them, least of all their own backbenchers and most definitely the electorate.
If only they’d listened to the doctors, nurses, rail workers, postmen, barristers and dock workers?
The Tories are the ones who slate British workers and obviously hate this country because their main priority is the 1% of the richest in society.
What a sorry mess 12 years of Tory rule has led to.

//Always looking to blame someone else,..//
It's not a question of blame. Voters in the UK are faced with voting against the party they would least like to see in power. There is no optimum choice; it's simply a case of keeping out the mob you think would cause most harm overall (bearing in mind that nothing any of them say can be reliably believed). That's all you can do.

It seems to me that at the moment it's the right wing who hate their own country. They denigrate those who voted for remain as 5Cers (and that was almost half the population). Their own PM, Ms Truss, has targetted enemies of the people as being all the opposition parties, woke people, journalists, unions, think tanks, talking heads and Brexit deniers. Everyone, in fact, who disagrees with her.
