Hi everyone. What a cracking thread you have started, rosamundjohn . What a great discussion! I think what you describe is more common than believed. As evidenced by, well, ALL of AB!
Hi everyone.
This feels like a Loners Anonymous initial meeting!
I am 22, love people, chat in the street, have some great friends who I have lots of time for. I like the odd night out, but it has to be with people I like, and if I am not enjoying myself I will leave! And I HATE unexpected callers. I just think it's, well, intrusive! And I like my own space. I am t home much more than my partner-only work part-time and I am at Uni just one day a week this year. So I am used to the company of one...and the dog, who's always up for a chat!
But on the whole, I can't be done with this networking for the sake of it, not in my personl life anyway (it's vital at work, and I would like to keep it there!). I like the friends I have, and the ones I make along the way. I am not cold, or arrogant, or stand-offish, but I just know who I like to spend time with. And I learnt a long time ago that there is no point wasting precious time with people who you don't even like, just to be 'sociable'. Because it isn't sociable, it's painful! And you know, there are people who would value your company much more!
There is nothing wrong with not loving everyone and being a party animal. Do I sound defensive? Oh dear...I didn't mean to. I am just happy with the way I am!
skyep, I think the world can be quite introverted in general, yes, as everyone has everything they need in easy reach, and people now prefer not to mix sometimes. But I like to mix. Just in an organised manner!
dot, I think your observation is correct...online interaction is just so easy! Just hopefully not to the detriment of 'real life'.
So I would love to meet you all, yes...Just call me before you arrive! x
