Lies Lead to Loss of Life

Such a viewpoint is common in today’s world. Scandals involving lies told by prominent politicians and other world leaders have rocked society. Influenced by this climate, many people have relaxed their commitment to telling the truth. In some domains lying has even become official policy. “I’m paid to lie. This seems to be the core of retail sales training everywhere, Many believe that there is no real harm in so-called little white lies. Is this true?

hi naomi, other than the quote, I do not see what was wrong with it. Unfortunately, I typed it direct onto the screen - however I did give a synopsis to china, bottom of page 1 I think.
The above quote (^) from their own "Panacea that must be obeyed" sums it all up - there is nothing else in their view and that the Book must be defended against all us "heathens". Shame to be so narrow-minded, I think.
I had a brilliant Divinity teacher at school - he opened our eyes to other religions and what they meant, as well as being agnostic and aetheist. "Understand what they mean and make your own informed choice - listen to others and manage your way through life. If you turn to God, so be it, if you do not, then it is wrong for true Christians to belittle you and preach at (underlined) you."
Hence, I do not mind good debate on religious views but what gets up my goat is the belittling and preaching, oft with wrong spins and misquotes used, on these threads recently, all involving the "Unholy Trinity."

the two links were about cases of emotional, spiritual and psychological abuse of children in the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Christadelpians.

Elderman, you really must be the most predictale person on AB! It always seems you are incapable of forming your own views and answers. You always resort to copying texts and pasting them on here. Does this mean you cannot think for yourself? Is this what your religion has taught you? So if, as you say, telling children about God is not enough to make them the people you want them to be, i.e. people who do not lie etc, what in your opinion is the solution? Please elaborate as to how you think children should be brought up and please try using your own words this time! Do you think atheists are incapable of bringing their children up to be good, honest people? DT, I like your Divinity teacher!
Well, before my time, he taught the Bish of Durham - who could be a strong candidate for Archbish if the CofE decides to change away from its current "let's self-destruct" path....He was inspirational.
I got the Middle School Prize in Divinity (for comparative religion) and failed the O level. It fell on the same day as Ad Maths and at that age, I had decided I wasn't going to join the Church....Bible cramming was not for me either.

Well spotted, red. Reading Eldermans posts, particularly on this thread, I was struck by how each post resembled a chapter from a larger work, inasmuch as it completely failed to address or respond to posts of others.
It is hard not to conclude, reading through some of Eldermans threads, that the intention is just to post long screeds in bitesize posts, possibly copied wholesale from some evangelical religious site, completely ignoring comment or opinion from others here, which does not really seem in the spirit of Answerbank, or more general rules of debate.
So, Elderman - all your own work, or are you copying and pasting from elsewhere ?
