Such a viewpoint is common in today’s world. Scandals involving lies told by prominent politicians and other world leaders have rocked society. Influenced by this climate, many people have relaxed their commitment to telling the truth. In some domains lying has even become official policy. “I’m paid to lie. This seems to be the core of retail sales training everywhere, Many believe that there is no real harm in so-called little white lies. Is this true?

I for one would not allow my children anywhere near you! A scary thought!!
Elderman, I'd like a link to that book please just to see what you're recommending. From what I've heard from you so far from you I wouldn't let children anywhere near people who think as you do - but that's because I'm a responsible parent.
What about myths concerning virgin births ?

DT, it's a shame your post has gone. I read it earlier but I didn't have time to read the link you provided. Any chance of re-posting it?

However, a child’s basic moral sense, according to Dr. Coles, begins to bud as early as three years of age. “Within the child there is a developing moral sense. I happen to think it is God-given, that there is a craving for a moral order.” This is the crucial time for the inculcation of the true moral values. It is the time, for instance, to teach by example the value of truthfulness as opposed to lying. The Bible stresses the importance of training during the youthful years: “Train up a boy according to the way for him; even when he grows old he will not turn aside from it.”—Proverbs 22:6.

Mommy, Daddy—is there really a Santa Claus?” It is the moment of truth that many parents dread. With a mixture of disappointment and hurt in his eyes, seven-year-old Jimmy begs for reassurance that the fantasy figure who brought all those wonderful presents really exists—and that his parents have not lied to him.
eh?
Elderman, take a DEEEEEP breath and think for a moment. You may need a book written by unknown authors to guide you in raising your children, but some of us came from caring families who raised us to be independent, responsible, adults, so it's rather silly to assume that we're all as starved of moral fibre as you are.

Are you going to give me a link to that book - or have you imagined it?

Marty, you too. :o)

bednobs, //does elderman ever look at the answers he gets? Or ever make sense?//

No I don't think he does either.
Elderman are you really saying that to tell children about Santa Claus leaves them with a lifelong trauma with a hatred of their parents because they've been lied to ?
Elderman, So you think we should teach them all about the killing and the torture, and slavery of your Bible or should we not tell them about those bits, that would be a bit deceitful wouldn't it?
^^ Maybe that's what did it. ;o)
Sorry, my last was to Vulcan.
Elderman, please read your responses and respond to them accordingly!!!!
