We've noticed it's got a bit "rough" in here recently.
We'd like this section to be accessible to all without fear of being "ambushed" by members who simply disagree with them.
Please remember calling someone an idiot (or similar) is very unlikely to aid the changing of their perspective.
We're not asking you to change what you say - we're asking you to change the way you say it.
In other news: we now have a small "welcome box" between the "enter a question" box and the questions below. Suggestions welcome for things we could pop in there.
Vascop’s very astute observation aside, the comments posted by Maggiebee and Mike11111 subsequent to my last speak volumes – and for Woofgang, who claims never to visit R&S voluntarily, I offer the following posted by her at 13:52 on Sat 21st Apr 2012 here:
Craft, Really? Well, although it makes little sense, since Vascop and I appear to be the only 'dissenters' to have posted recently, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were referring to him as well as me. ;o)
And until that day happens, everyone is entitled to believe whatever they choose, but if you can't give me real proof, don't try and force your beliefs down my throat...
My apologies if this upsets anyone - err, no, not really because truth will out – but it seems to me that there are more myths promulgated amongst the ranks of the religious and their apologists than meet the eye – one of the more surreptitious being that non-believers are always the aggressors.
It is strange that non-believers often discuss biblical texts with believers in order to clarify some point of religious nonsense, however the believers never return the courtesy by presenting a rational argument to support their case. I just cannot imagine why that should be, actually I can but today is 'be nice day', so have a nice day :-)
Craft, like it or not, the simple fact is that, despite popular gossip both here in AB and outside, non-believers are not always the aggressors – that has been clearly demonstrated - and if the Ed wants people to afford others mutual respect, then as one whose reputation as one of those despicable atheists follows her from unrelated thread to unrelated thread, I can only say I hope in the future it works both ways – because currently it doesn’t.
I believe it is Men's duty to enlighten the religious and hopefully promote worldwide peace.
Like vascop's quote; "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing", so saving them from their misgivings is paramount.
