I am currently watching someone, who has never harmed anyone, die a slow, distressing, and horrendously cruel death. How does that equate with a compassionate God?

Thanks so much for your good wishes, everyone. They're appreciated.

Truthabounds, // You say God brought this about//

No I didn’t. Why would I? I don’t believe your god exists. You’re making it up again.

LG, //Were the nonsense about Satan true, it would mean god is not omnipotent either, so hardly worth the bother of worshipping really.//

I agree. You have to wonder why such an almighty and compassionate entity doesn’t just zap that wicked old troublemaker out of existence - or indeed, why he made Satan in the first place!
//How does that equate with a compassionate God?//

so if no one died than you'll believe in god???
but apart from that i wish you and your family and the member who is suffering peace. My prayers are with you.
I don't wish to be drawn into the religious controversy, but can I just say how sorry I am for your plight.
liftbulb - of course not, we all die, it's just how and when.
God allows satan to exist because he hasn't got a dog to blame for everything that he screws up!

naomi - if your loved one was a non-human you would be breaking the law allowing them to suffer in such a way.

Wishing your loved one as peaceful and end to their life as is possible. x
lol, liftbulb. I agree with you em10, but i believe that god decides when its your time to die. Now i do not want to start a debate on this thread as it is not the appropriate time or location.
Thoughts are with you Naomi.
that was a typo, however i think it suits you. No God can do that as there isn't such a thing. Doctors can however, inject you with morphine to ease the passing, having seen it done, i can testify that it had nothing to do with any being other than the doctor.
lightbulb, but that is the whole point, if there were a God of any description wouldn't he/she be merciful.
//No God can do that as there isn't such a thing.//

that's your opinion.

what has your God done for you lately?
Mike who is that directed at?
I told you i do not want to debate on this topic when it is so clearly not a place to.
fine ^^
just to add that it is R&S.
mike, who are you talking to?

Mike11111, no, you should be ashamed of yourself! Shame on you!
Oh Naomi, how awful. I'm so sorry and I hope the suffering is over quickly. Not a good day here either. Just learned my lovely kind young friends have lost their 5th baby in 3 years.
