I am human. I will breed you and indescriminantly kill you for my food. I will also select the ones that feel nice, kill you and make you into my clothes. When I feel lonely or need to seek solace in my terrible life I will use you for your companionship and convince myself you love me.

Now I get laughed at a lot by turning to vegetarianism more and more but does the above not sound just pathetic?

I always laugh at the vegetarians who state all the moral filled reasons why they are vegetarians...then go and eat a kebab

I don't know anyone who laughs at vegetarians - who does it to you?
Box tops, Honeydip has now declared himself a flexitarian. It seems to mean he can eat a chip and kebab meat baguette when he feels like it. I can't imagine why he thinks people laugh.

Check his recent posts for more info.....

Thanks Eccles - well, I could call myself that too then, I love a nice nut roast but I'm partial to meat too. Neither one thing or the other. I saw the earlier thread where he said he ate meat because he was starving. Starving's a serious matter.
I think the use of the term 'starving' was abused by Honeydip.
I suspect so.
It's also abused by my children who seem to think that being slightly peckish means they might die of hunger.
Apparently on Christmas Day Honeydip HAD to eat meat as there was nothing else.........I was amused at the thought of a dining table bending under the weight of a mountain of meat but not a single vegetable!
I assumed honeydip was a girl randomly. I think you probably get laughed at by calling yourself veggie and then eating kebab meat.... it is quite amusing.
...as well as hypocritical...
China, I suspect Honeydip is blond!
A vegetarian who has made a reasoned decision to be so, sticks to it honestly, and does not preach or look down on others who do eat meat, should never be laughed at. I've met a few vegetarians in my time, most of them are like this but one or two bad eggs who seem to lack tact.

If any vegetarians do get laughed at then it's hopefully not because of their views but for some other reason - like they slipped on a banana skin or made some comment that it was OK to eat fish as "they don't have DNA". But that's because they're being thick not because they're vegetarians.

Hi im I would like to think I fit that profile you just stated.
If people laugh at you, the best thing is to laugh with them, otherwise you let them win. Give as good as you get.
People laugh mostly out of ignorance because they don't understand and see you as an easy target.

I remember seeing a T shirt slogan in America which made me chuckle, it said - Vegetarian.
Old Indian word for
Bad fisherman ;-)
Honeydip, I think you've mistaken that vegetarians get laughed at.

Those who laughed were probably laughing at you because one day you're vegetarian, next day you're not.
Honeydip @ 10:34, is this the profile you mean?

///But that's because they're being thick not because they're vegetarians///
Do you make a big thing about not eating meat at every opportunity? I only ask because if so, that may be the reason you're laughed at - if you just reached for the egg sandwich in the canteen, or just quietly ordered the vegetable lasagne, I doubt one person would say anything to you. What get's people's backs up, is when vegetarians start spouting myths like 'the average caarnivore has 7lbs of undigested meat in their bowel' WRONG. If something is in your bowel, it's been digested! Or it takes (I've heard/read anything from 10 - 15 lb) of grain to make 1lb of beef - WRONG again, cows eat mostly grass. I'm sorry if you say none of these things and do go quietly about your business, and if you're laughed at or anybody says something to you again, all you have to say, if anything is, it's your lifestyle choice.
Mocking is not exclusive to vegetarians.

never been 'laughed' at exactly, but had a few rolled eyes and snide comments over the years - but not particularly regularly ... most people just accept it - even 20 odd years ago people maybe were more surprised at it but they rarely made an issue of it.

is it the same people laughing at you - or strangers etc?

do you preach at people - and they are laughing in defence?
iluvspikey - no, you have that WRONG.
it is not in the bowel - it is in the intestines...

because we have extremely long intestines, much longer than a carnivores - (who have short intestines), and more like a herbivores (who have long ones) and therefore the food (meat, veg, everything) takes longer to travel through it....too long ... usually days.

food in the intestines is in the process of being digested... and the notion you mention, centres on the idea that meat is just left at the temperature of the human body for a few days, it will decay and rot very quickly.. and that rotting is happening inside you...

what it actually does to the body i don't know, but that is the correct explanation of your comment.

i would not have said this at all, but you started the ignorant veggie bashing so at least check that you have a handle on what you are saying first ...
