Are Atheists Evil?

A few years ago God was very much part of the lives of people. Even if one had doubts they were kept to oneself. Today there is almost as much pressure not to believe in God as there was to believe in him.
Is what is happening in the world today a result of man's trying to get along without God?

Haven't you just contradicted yourself then?

"Using sherrard's reasoning above: A newborn baby doesn't believe in any sort of deity, are they born evil and then redeemed through belief in an imaginary friend you call god?"
Quite so, Daffy: it's the Christian doctrine of original sin.

No. I am asking if Atheists are evil, someone said that wars are down to religions. I said not all wars are down to religions. The examples quoted are atheists - so Are atheists evil?
//A few years ago God was very much part of the lives of people//
And when was that ?
The age of Dickens ?
The 20th century ?
Or maybe ?
The Medieval Period which was the most religious period in history, and was also the most barbarous.

//Is what is happening in the world today .............................//
Today ? Ah yes ! W

Those particular Atheists might have been.
But it was more to do with their personalities than their lack of religion.
You can't really decide whether or not theists or atheists are evil by some sort of kill-count method. People are evil. Religion, or atheism, is in the main just an excuse for evil people to be evil.
some tall people are men, some men are murderers.. so are tall men murderers?

(apologies to Chuck)
Atheists are no more evil than anyone else. Our point is that we don't justify killing other people because they aren't of, or are against, our belief that there is no god. We need another reason for doing it and so we have one less than some.

Today ? Ah yes ! That part of the world you mean which is the most religious, prays 5 times a day and calls upon God before opening up with another burst of gunfire or setting off another bomb you mean.
///Stalin, Mao Zedong, Slobodan Milosevic & Musselini were atheists. ///

That's true, but your question seemed to refer to what is happening in the world today.

My....what a difficult question. I really don't know how to start so I'll try NO and see how that works. Zeuss give me strength. (and the FSM)
I think you missed out a comma FGT :-)
no im not evil, except when i don't get my morning coffee, then i turn into a she devil.
If one believes in the concept of evil then I guess atheists are no more immune to being evil than believers.

One doesn't try to get alaont without God, that implies a beleif in a God who is then ignored. What is happening is that we are advancing long term, gaining knowledge and using it to replace previous erroneous beliefs. That said it is a wandering path with each step forward achieved after many forward and back and to the side.
ALONG !
as I typed
O-G Evil is just a concept which some religions seem to think has a disembodied existence which can enter people and make them evil. This is a very useful idea for controlling people but that is all it is. Since atheists don't subscribe to the idea of evil then they are immune to it. Believers on the other hand aren't.
I would be interested to know who it is who is pressuring you not to believe in your god..... Some specifics, please?

What precisely that is happening in the world today do you see is a result of mans trying to "get along without god"? - This golden age to which you refer - you know, the one where everyone believed in god, god was part of the lives of people, and the world was a better place - when in recorded history, precisely, was this?

Otherwise, idiosyncracy, your OP sounds like a kind of sneaky, weaselly attempt to blame all the worlds ills on non-believers, whilst at the same time absolving your god, who you claim is a creator and a listening and reactive god, from all the worlds ills.....
