Is Anyone Here "between" Religions?

I was asked the other day what religion i am and i had to pause because i was "between" religions so was temporarily religionless.

So far i've tried christianity, judaisam, buddism and islam but i was left baffled, confused, empty and dismayed by the hypocritical nature of these paths.

I still haven't found what i'm looking for in a religion which is the truth. I've had a look at scientology but this appears to be a far out cult.

At the moment i am between religions, yes i believe that we were created by god, gods or even aliens and i want and demand the truth.

What can i do and where do i search for the truth? Can anyone here hand on heart recommend a religion to me as the emptiness and the fact that i could be missing out on enlightenment is killing me.

I think you feel the need to "belong" to an organised group. perhaps religion is not your path forward.

you can just lead your life in that manner. religion doesn't seem to be working for you.

If you want to be led by no-one and are searching for a leader...all religions have one at the start...it's going to be a jolly long search.

Sara3 this is how i live but spend countless hours in thought looking up at the stars or on the cliffs gazing out at the sea and feel connected only when i do this.

OK so it's more of an emptiness -- I think many people have experienced that. What I would suggest is, rather than go looking for a religion to suit you, seek reasons to believe that the emptiness should be filled with a god, or aliens, or anything else -- or, alternatively, that it need not be filled with god(s). The best place to search for "the truth" is not in a religion, but in the world around you. Then, once you have seen God in the world, then you can decide which God it is. Or, if you have seen no need for a God, then you can settle into atheism, knowing that our life on this planet is all there is so you may as well make the most of it.

At any rate, scouring the world's religions for one that suits you isn't working so I'd try a new approach.

Neither can religion. The answers to those questions are unknown.

Personally, I think you're wasting your time looking for the perfect religion. I would direct your energies towards living your life and not dwelling on looking for something that isn't there.

Religion it seems is the middleman to connecting with our creator and what better way to connect with your creator then with many others who believe the same thing

But that would mean connecting with people who don't know what the creator is - or even if a creator exists. If you're searching for the truth, what would be the point of doing that?

The word "path" is well chosen, how can a path be hypocritical though? All religions contain three basic elements: The Teacher (Jesus, Buddha etc.) the 'Teaching' (The path) and what might be called 'The spiritual community', (following aspirants). Maybe you cannot reconcile the actions of some of the followers with the teaching they espouse and are trying to embrace, but that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the path.

It's all confusing to put what's in my head and heart onto paper but like i said it's a deep yearning. One can describe it like when trying to say something that you absolutely positively know it and when that word's on the tip of your tongue but you can't say the word but obviously i don't know what that "Word" is but i feel i know what it is.

In this case there's everything wrong with the path. Zombozo is seeking the truth - and no religion - or spiritual philosophy - can guarantee to offer that.

You could do worse than look for what you seek in a garden. To use Dot Gurney's words: 'One is nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.'

Maybe the "path" is right and it's the ones that are on the path who have it wrong or have have misunderstood so it's case of the blind leading the blind?

Snadroe very poetic and i assume the "garden" is actually a metaphoric one with the underlying meaning meaning place of tranquilness and serenity so a state of mind.

What on earth makes you think there is a why or a who?
Science is striving continually to discover what is beyond here.
What happens after here? You die - the end.

All this "navel gazing" is not good for you. You should make the most of life IMO. Why anyone would want to be told how to behave and how to live their life is beyond me. It's just looking for someone to pass the responsibilitie of life on to.
Most grown ups manage very well without having to have a "leader".
