Are Atheists Unsure And Worried?
170 Answers
According to some of the religious people here, the reason atheists argue religion is because they ‘are not sure and are a bit worried’ (Keyplus’ words). Religion is an option available to all – atheists choose to reject it. What then, do those who say this think we are unsure or worried about? The question has been asked several times on different threads, but as far as I’m aware, no one has given their reasons for thinking that. Can someone please explain?

Do atheists have meaningless lives? Clearly not, since our learned friends have obviously spent considerable time absorbing, learning, deliberating and sermonising on religion and its sacred texts and letting us know that they have spent vast amounts of time doing so.
But there seems to be a lack of clear atheist position on R&S. The one I see presented is more anti-theist or anti-religion, a sort of 'what do you want?' "I don't know, but I don't want that and neither should you" approach, under the matriarchal leadership wherein the rest follow along in ovis aries compliance.
I am not part of the atheist flock, but I'm sure you'll allow me one go at the obligatory ;o)

@ Khandro
Who is it that "keeps asserting your tight-arsed mantra that everyone is living in a meaningless world in a meaningless universe, you might just find yourself living a vacuous life in a hollow culture, - but maybe you already are"
Naomi? Atheists?
A clarification might be useful, as well as a link to where this has been stated...

Octavius - Know thine enemy.
I'm full of admiration for atheists who go to the trouble of reading and analysing the bible or other holy books. One of the first responses from theists is "You haven't read the bible etc. so how do you know."
I'm afraid I don't have the time or inclination to do this as I'm trying to learn about many other things at the moment.

I'm not sure why you would expect such to be honest. We don't all meet up and discuss tactics. As mentioned before we're all individuals united by just the one issue. How those concerns are voiced is up to the individual.

Not that I have seen in all the years I have been here, but you can correct me if you wish there are probably one or two examples of that in the last 10 years of AB.
jomifl, "anybody who behaves like an idiot gets treated like one" of course, and I'm sure you've felt the brunt of that on occasion ;o)

Octavius - ;o) I see I am going to need to qualify my statements when posting answers to you.
I am not only a member of AB but several other forums. I also post comments and discuss issues on youtube videos on the subject of atheism v theism.
It was mainly these that I was referring to. I'm sure however that, if I could be bothered, I would be able to find the comment or similar in some postings on AB.

Octavius, some of our learned friends have spent considerable time learning other things too. R&S just happens to be where they discuss religion. As for anyone following ‘under matriarchal leadership’ in ‘ovis aries compliance’ – that’s insulting – but since you’re talking out of your bottom I will assume it’s the result of the ovis aries compliance that the indoctrination of religion necessarily espouses.

You’re right in that respect. I don’t want any of the things I listed in my post at 19:40 Tue 23rd Jul 2013 to be happening in this world, and - condemn me for saying it if you like – but neither should you.

Strangely not very often, of course there are always those who either can't or won't understand some of my posts but that is their problem, not mine.
If you want to go in for unwarranted jibes that is your privilege, though I think that they only demonstrate lack of a sound argument. You are beginning to sound like Khandro by the way, not a path I would recommend. :-)

LG, I think this is the 'Tight-Arse' quote from Khandro;
/If you keep asserting your tight-arsed mantra that everyone is living in a meaningless world in a meaningless universe, you might just find yourself living a vacuous life in a hollow culture, - but maybe you already are./
Modesty prevents me from claiming that it was aimed at me personally but perhaps I can brag a bit occasionally.
Maybe I am living a meaningless life in a meaningless universe, or a vacuous life in a hollow culture, I'm still awaiting khandro's decision on which but at least I am sure that I'm enjoying it and I don't have to worry about the whims of deities. :-)
