People lie for many reasons. Some think they are obligated to lie about their abilities in order to get ahead in this competitive world.
Others try to cover up errors or guilt with lies. Still others falsify reports to give the impression that they have done work they have not done.
Then there are those who lie to damage another’s reputation, to avoid embarrassment, to justify previous lies, or to defraud people of their money.( Rev. 21:8)

Because nowhere in the bible does it tell you how to !
Nowhere does it quote actual words that can be used to console someone in the here and now. All you get is a load of platitudinal garbage , like how wonderful it is to be dead safe in the arms of Jesus.
You goodlife are an adult and you can't find a few words of your own to give some comfort and hope to a little child. I find that shameful .

A woman came to Shakyamuni Buddha distraught from the death of her child and asked could he console her, he said she must first go and bring him a handful of mustard seed, but it must be from a house where there had been no bereavement or suffering. She realised after going to many houses how universal death and suffering was, and she was not alone in her grief, this was great lesson. She returned without the seed and legend has it she became the first female follower of what was to become Buddhism.

I think not. In the throng at foot of the cross, some of the people who set down a record of what they'd seen may well have missed the Virgin Mary along with Mary Magdalene. Another might have seen them and recorded the fact.

You know it doesn’t take deliberate lies to develop mistaken beliefs. At times, we just misread things. How many people have you met, and had untimely deaths doing something they believed was right? Then again, often they believe thing simply because they want to believe it.
One professor says that even scientists often fall in love with their own constructions, their beliefs becloud their judgment. Then they may spend a lifetime in vain trying to shore up mistaken beliefs.—Jeremiah 17:9.
And did you know that researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have found that the brain has to work much harder to tell a lie than it does to tell the truth.

People ask a simple question and never get a straight forward answer. Every answer , if answered at all and not evaded, is open to many interpretations. A simple question deserves a simple answer or at least one that is not open to complex interpretations.
One can only conclude that the response is a load of waffle to cover the lack of a real answer.
In the example you gave it had some merit , as it was a practical solution but what would you do with that tearful little girl. Send her to a dozen houses where pets were dying ? OK I know that is rhetorical but it is illustrates my point . All that child needed was a cuddle and a simple reassurance . Not some complicated theist based answer that would prolong her distress.
