According to the bible, its authors allegedly inspired by God, he made the stars to give light to the earth and to enable human beings to differentiate between the seasons, whereas the Koran, allegedly the actual word of God, tells us that God made to stars as missiles to repel demons. How can anyone in this day and age possibly claim that these so-called holy books should be taken seriously?
That's a bit like saying that if some poster on AB submits an item that you don't agree with, or that you think is foolish, then everything else from them before that and afterwards must be just as bad.
bert, that's a bit like saying some aspects of the Bible and the Koran are wrong, but it doesn't matter. Bearing in mind that these books are reputed to be the word of God, if one bit is wrong, how are we to know which bits, if any, are right? Doesn't one very clear inaccuracy (and there are many) cast doubt upon the veracity of the whole?
Well, like I said already, that's just like saying that one wrong item from an AB poster would mean you couldn't trust anything else from them. That's not what we do; we judge each item on its merits as we see them, and we don't expect to be accused of of being inconsistent or stupid if we find value in some items and none at all in others.
Sorry I didn't watch your video - Adobe Flash player isn't good on this PC.
bert, I don't understand the comparison you're making. It's fallacious. The authors of the Bible were divinely inspired - allegedly - the Koran is the unerring word of God himself - allegedly - and people the world over live by those books - even though they are demonstrably in error.
Seem's like an awful lot of trouble to go to just to let us know when it's time to plant corn . . . forget about when Jack Frost will be paying his final visit of Spring.
For many it appears the only impossible thing to believe is that their own beliefs could possibly be in error.
But it was down to the individual human to detect whether I inspired them or not, and that's the weak link. I'm not going to go around correcting every mistaken preacher. I don't sweat the small stuff.
It is inconsistent and stupid to continue to claim that a holy book is the work of a superior intelligence when any of it is shown to be rubbish.
The entire bases of these books is their supposed source. With a substantial amount of the content proven to be rubbish then they are worth nothing more than the paper they are written on.
//the Bible comes out best as being true word of God. //
Or more likely the less bad of the two.
Neither are anything more then the musings of ancient, ignorant, arrogant misogynists who decided to elevate their prejudices to the status of unquestionable.

No actually I form an opinion about the people here and would be wary of any advice from the some in particular.
Moreover if one of them advocated genocide, rape and enslavement, as these holy books do, I would definitely not want the advice of their authors, nor that of those who advocate them as guides to morality.
Perhaps bert it would be safer to assume that all religious works are rubbish and only give credence to that which can be demonstrated to be true. One thing that can be demonstrated to be true is that almost all religious authorities of whatever creed disagree on almost everything.
Our world is little more than a grain of sand in the vastness that is the cosmos. And yet God sent his only begotten son here so that we may be saved.
He must think we're very special.
I suspect that Satan is the real omnipotent spirit and it is s/he who spawned the 'good god' to confuse folks and have some devilish fun.
If it was the other way around as per bible, the supposedly good god must be a cruel and merciless spirit by subjecting his creations to absolute carnage for the sake of testing their faith. I believe he even created another sect that advocates torture and murder to anyone not following that believe.
We humans certainly have invented some monstrous postulations to try and explain our existence on this planet.
Naomi I don't see anything that conflicts with the bible in your video . The video doesn't mention the bible , you mention it in your comment .
For those of you looking for a video made by believers which compares the bible and science , this is a good one - well presented , not too long 45 min , and watchable . Do the presenters have all the answers ? - No , but then again nobody does .
