Well after thousands of years of human existence, The Bible, in the prophecy of Jeremiah, chapter 10, verse 23, says about this: “To earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his steps.”

So this Jeremiah believes man needs a God. And their evidence is ?

Lots have things have helped solved man’s problems. But there is a vast number of things to tackle and a dynamic situation where one can expect to be continually needing to revise what is needed.

As for a God taking over, if they existed and had wanted to surely they would have done so long ago.

Old_Geezer@ One of encouragement derived from understanding the time feature concerning prophecy had to do with the time.

Today,This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come. Mark 13:10 Has this prophecy been fulfilled? Indeed, it has, to date 5000 a day.
goodlife is being rather selective here. As so often, alas.
That passage goes on to read :
" . . . men will hand over their own brothers to be put to death, fathers will do the same to their children. Children will turn against their parents and have them put to death "
So that's what you get when the gospel is preached to all nations. Civil war, carnage, massacres. For my part, although my little world isn't perfect, I can do without the bloodshed, thanks. At least nobody ever killed anyone purely to prove there wasn't a god.
After reading all this, I have not had a damascene conversion.
Just so I can put the Jeremiah's prophecy into context please, how many 'thousands of years' have humans existed for?
“To earthling..." Who wrote the JW bible, aliens?
23 I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him.
It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.+

Has religion solved any of man's problems?

No but it has introduced plenty.
Religion is the pretence of knowledge through the subjugation of reason to faith.

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator." A.H.

I think you must have misinterpreted what GL was implying.

I would suggest that perhaps he is referring to the fact that for all man's inventions and scientific knowledge, war is still rampant throughout the earth, people are still starving and dying from malnutrition. Disease is ongoing, previously eradicated diseases are now making a comeback and regardless of the fact that our life expectancy has increased and continues to increase, we still die.

Man's inventions, albeit to the good in the main part, they have also contributed to much of the world's problems.
Technology does not bode well for those who persist in playing guessing games with reality.
