When people say 'God is kind and loving' just because their own lives aren't a perpetual daily saga of misery, hunger, thirst and disease...
How self-centered and oblivious must one be to declare something so obtuse when MILLIONS are born into the poverty cycle every week and will spend virtually all of their lives fighting to stay alive? Millions more are born in and around conflict zones with a very small window of opportunity for anything besides escaping explosions, dogding bullets and making agonising trips all over the place as refugees.
How easy to say 'I'll pray for them' and wash your hands off this stark reality. If a God needs someone to pray in order to help these people, s/he is already an inept OR cruel being.
But seeing as generations of people have been praying and that hasn't done ball to eradicate conflict zones or poverty, maybe you should consider if your prayers are actually being heard by anyone besides yourself. After all, you can never pray to pass an exam, sit on your ass and do absolutely nothing and then pass with distinction, can you?
What a coincidence that your prayers only seem to work when human effort is put into the said task ONLY, eh? And what sort of a loving God prioritises your prayers for landing that promotion over prayers for millions of starving and dehydrated children emaciating away in poverty? Or people dying from wars- most of which are fought IN HIS NAME?

Other peoples Beliefs should be respected even if not believed -this is what my Belief says (Pagan). Nothing talented in a few badly written and even more badly researched paragraphs basically slagging off the religious beliefs of millions of people. Most starvation in the World is down to Politics not Religion.

The first, second world wars, Russian revolution, China revolution, napoleon, etc all non religious wars all worse than any religious wars by a mile

clarion; You miss-interpret my yawn; I've heard it so much before on here, now it comes from 17 year old Sri Lankan 'Talented young lady' who seems not to understand even her own culture, Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is a Buddhist country, Buddhists do not necessarily believe in God and yet they pray. Prayer is a very important aspect of humanity, and at its best it can raise beings beyond savagery.
The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, and the mightier the forces against evil will be strengthened. Prayer, in one aspect of its purpose and at its best, purifies the air and destroys the contagion of evil.

The only difference between political leaders and religious leaders is that the politicians are more honest or less mad. In reality there is little difference between religious wars and political wars except that religious differences rarely heal until the blood stops flowing ...because one side has been exterminated.
