I was at church on sunday and the minister as part of his sermon was speaking about being confronational and he asked people to put up their hands who like confronation. Well I did and I was the only one to put up my hand. And he stood there and addressed me by name and said yes we know you are confronational especially with the posts you put on facebook please dont do that as I have to not read them because I am not good at confronting things. i was mortified and upset by what he said as everyone was laughing and some did not know where to look nor did I I went home and deactivated my facebook account and now I am thinking about taking time out of church for a few weeks I am offended Am I overreacting

You put your hand up, he didn't pick you out.

Yes you are over reacting, it might be worthwhile considering what he said though as you have admitted on AB that you have been outspoken of FB in the past.

Perhaps the minister had a point.......
If you admit to liking confrontation you can hardly object if you come off worst in a confrontational situation!
You obviously don't like confrontation as much as you thought.
Maybe overreacting a little bit. You did put your hand up after all - what did you expect him to do? I would hold my head up high and go back to church this week after all you did enter into the spirit of things and the congregation will respect you for that.
I have a rue only ever to write on screen what I would say to someone in person , that may nothing comes back to bite me.

If you put things out in the public arena, word can spread quickly.

Does sound a bizarre Church experience though.

Yes you are over reacting. He asked who was confrontational and you put your hand up. He then confronted you, and you came off worst.
You sound like someone who likes confrontation on your terms. Ei, when you are the one in the driving seat!

Perhaps you feel you are overreacting because you know that perhaps sometimes you are over the top in your confrontational ways. It is the old thing of, you can dish it out but don't like it when the tables are turned.

Take it as a life lesson on how to conduct yourself and think a bit more on how you are being perceived and how other people feel rather than self satisfied in trying to prove you are better/right or whatever.
Surely this was a Rector at Kirk?

Was this the same Minister you had a bit of a thing for a year or so back, could that have influenced his behaviour?
Is this really how christians behave? whatever happened to turning the other cheek and the meek inheriting the earth? ..just remembered ...he got killed..
He was out of order. O.K., you did "lead with your chin" in putting your hand up but he is a professional and should behave like one and not like a demagogue.
If you have described the situation at church accurately, and remember we have not heard the minister's side of your story, I think the minister was wrong, and not very adult in the matter.
It doesn't sound very professional to me. I think you should just rise above it, though. Unless you think he has a point, carry on as you were xx
There appears to be a famine of empathy on AB this week

" Tell the truth and shame the devil " however there is a value judgment on the vicars part -

suppose he had said is there a HGV driver and when you had assented, given you hell for being in a job where babies get flattened every week

or asked if there was an arteest in the congretation and then given the lucky fellow hell for all the graffiti in village

then you would say he had an agenda and should have declared it beforehand.

however all things change

turn up next Sunday - and he mentions it - say that you are turning the other cheek - and then DON'T show him your bottom !
^^I think you should ;-)
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Kim, if you read Baldric's link you would advise him not too :)
Lol :-) whichever works for you, then gordie x
