I suspect a deity would not care what gender someone was. That's only there to ensure a mix of genes when creating physical bodies in the physical world.

Religions make their own rules. I can't see why each would want to "respect" one gender more than another but each to their own beliefs. I think you'd need to discuss one particular religion at a time.
