Is Everyone Who Disagrees With Abortion Evil?

I've just been told as much.
I have a subsidiary question: why are some people (whether through bigotry, lack of education, or poverty of imagination I don't know) unable to accept that people who disagree with them may do so for honorable and decent reasons?

Jackdaw - //This what Retro and DB are referring to: "My view is that anti-abortionists are very nasty people, and of course, I am entitled to hold that view". // Indeed - I have allowed my emotions to get the better of me, for which I apologise, and withdraw the statement.

andy "I do not wish to put forward a view that anyone who opposes abortion is 'nasty' or 'evil'

excuse me? you wrote the very thing on a post I've just been reading about Britain First.

"I couldn't answer the'Are you pro or anti?' question without caveats.".

You're rather more moderate than the moderator then, Mamya.

vetuste - I am thinking this out as the thread develops, and I see I have painted myself into an unpleasantly narrow-minded corner here.

Please allow me to start over.

I do not think that anyone is 'evil' for their views for or against abortion.

I believe it is a massively difficult ethical and moral dilemma which is tragically faced by women every day.

I also believe that the view of people who hold a blanket 'anti-abortion' option are misguided.

I hope that has cleared up any confusion - I did get a bit carried away with the 'nasty' adjective on the 'Britain First' thread, and brought it over here, where it really has no viable place.

I shall be clearing up any misunderstanding over there in due course.
This what Retro and DB are referring to:

"My view is that anti-abortionists are very nasty people, and of course, I am entitled to hold that view".
My RC upbringing aside,I see life as it is - I have spoken to a young woman who gladly announced this was her third abortion and it was 'Like falling off a log' whilst at my other elbow sat a young lady recovering from a hysterectomy meaning she could not bear the child she longed for.

I have also known other instances where the choice has been desperately sad for all concerned on health grounds.

Indeed I did, and as my previous post confirms, I am retracting that view, and offer apologies if I caused any offence.
painted yourself into a very narrow-minded corner? -what a load of bolony! you made a statement on another thread and are now trying to back-track and even say you did'nt say/mean it.

andy you seem to have very serious passive aggressive problems here -an observation rather than accusation. Certain persons are trying to have a debate while you seem to be backtracking and blaming other people for your errors ie 'not understanding'. makes uncomfortable reading actually.

The entire purpose of debate is for people to exchange their viewpoints, and those exchanges do not always go according to plan.

People can, and do change their position throughout a discussion - as I have done here.

I see nothing wrong with admitting that my initial vocabulary was misjudged, I have withdrawn the remark and apologised - everyone makes mistakes - this was one of mine.

I would disagree with that view, but there we are.

Hopefully my post previous to this one answers that point.
divebuddy - //Andy, I expect you can now see what I meant be not thinking things through. //

On this occasion - absolutely guilty as charged - no argument at all.
Not everyone who disagrees with abortion are nasty but many certainly have a nasty side. It works both ways though.

With regards to some anti-abortion activists I am a pro-retroactive-abortionist.

I think MIbs is saying that "some" people who oppose abortion ought to have been killed at or before birth. Which may be clever, but not necessarily nice.
He's just putting a nice shine on his ego.
