Hi There I saw a post on facebook that said Muslims and Christians do not worship the same God. And I copied it on to my wall. Anyway one of my really pc friends said that is not true and it is hate crime to say that and if it is not removed she will phone the police. But surely that is true. Muslims worship Allah where as Christians worship God?

Not being a user of Facebook I thought gordie had put the message up in his living room. (copied it on to my wall)

Khandro: My second post could not be inaccurate since it began with "I thought". I can confirm that that is exactly what I thought so you are wrong.

You are welcome to your opinion about my first post. I won't be upset since I have very little regard for your opinion due to your vast number of nonsensical posts on this site.
Beso, regardless of name, they are all one and the same.
The word Allah is pre-Muslim and some Christians have used that name for God long before Islam and still do.
/they are all one and the same./
They are all the same in that they are imaginary but all different because they have been imagined by different brains.
I am more puzzled by why anyone would think that statement was worth posting on FB in the first place.
mama - dont you know its Christmas ?
I do Peter - what has that to do with the price of fish?
The term for non-trinitarian is unitarian. There is a reference in one of St. John's epistles to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost being one but JWs conveniently reject this as a 'later, spurious addition' to the text.
jomifl; Your imagined opinion that they are "imaginary" is quite beside the point and has nothing to do with, or contribute to the question in the original post.
// Given, though, that 'God' is a totally mythical figure anyway, there is obviously scope for some variation in how people see him! // OR HER!!!
and Jackdaw there are these:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarianism

and they are definitely christian - I attended on wedding and quoted the miracle at Cana in NT Greek and got some Jesus odd looks
so went and looked it up

they manage to combine one God and a belief in Christ - work that one out !
To answer your question I would say that Christians and Muslims should be worshipping the same God but unfortunately when Christians believe Jesus (pbuh) to be God, Son of God (trinity, three in one etc) then the things get confused.

As for the words “Allah” or “God” that has more to do with language you speak. Jesus did not speak English so he surely did not call his God, “God”.

But I will clarify it in a different way. Jews, Christians and Muslims should all be worshipping the God their Prophets worshipped instead of adding the prophets in that list. If they do so then things will be very simple.
Yes, in the sense that they both worship something that doesn't exist !
PP.....I have had a quick look at your link, and it seems to me that Unitarians seem to want to have thier cake and eat it to.

Also I presume they fail the basic Grand Canyon test !
Hi Mikey

Grand Canyon test - erm if you throw yourself off the grand canyon - angels' wings dont often buoy you up ?

//As the whole ethos of Christianity is based on the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit I cannot see how anybody claiming to be Christian cannot believe that Jesus is the Son of God.//

Not all christians beleive in the trinity .
There are denominations who believe that the - father /son / holy spirit , are one .
An old rhyme

Roses are red
Violets are bluish
If it wasn't for Jesus
We'd all be Jewish

Bit of silliness that made me smile
