Revelations in this article...
1. They are deluded.
(*** I never worked that out for myself)
2. If you leave the congregation, no one will talk to you.
(Right, and why is that a bad thing?).
3. They pressurised someone who left, and he jumped into a river and drowned. (I can't help but feel that this is not the full story, and other factors led to his suicide).
4. They try to deal with child abuse within the church and not involve the Police (which is exactly what every other faith does RCs, CofE, muslims, Jews. None go out of their way to bring bad publicity into the public limelight).
5. They started to notice it was flawed and did not make any sense. (unfortunately they did not twig that that applies to all religions. They just moved to another equally barmy version they could cope with).

There is a damage which can be caused by sects, Ag. JWs, Scientology etc are money making scams. There are victims of these scams, but not that many.
Broader and wider ideological visions of how mankind can be improved (Communism, Nazism, Fascism, Islamism) don't care how many eggs are to be smashed in the cause if the omelette.

Do you think people lose a sense of perspective about JW's. i.e they can't do that much serious harm when compared to the threat of radical Islam for instance?

Mibs - I've seen groups many a time on my estate (often recognising the same people).I've observed that virtually nobody answers the door as they can be spotted a mile off.
Their trudging of the streets is always half-hearted and leisurely almost to the point that torpor has them well in their grip.It's as if they are resigned to not speaking to anyone.
I just don't get the purpose of it.They are on a hiding to nothing...
