Hell

FAO Theland and others of his ilk.
Born again Christians believe that unless we believe like they do that we are going to burn in some kind of hell for eternity. Can you please justify such an odious concept/doctrine? (this goes for muslims as well)
I genuinely struggle with this idea. I have a couple of evangelical friends who are the nicest people you could meet but I have to question their sanity when they wish this on unbelievers like myself.

We are IMO living in 'the hell'. This planet, this time this earth is the hell. As for religion...erm fairy tales....err.....myth... It's not for me. Que sera sera IMO it's as it is. The bad exceeds the good here...check it out and it's getting worse. IMO all religion is constricting...no free spirit so how can religion be good? Yes usually you will find religionists in their own concept are nice people, but when one is restricted by religionist boundaries....how can they be un objective??

A cruel concept Nailit. Don't believe it, not for one second. Isn't t the Greek word for hell Hades? Which means the common grave, a hole in the ground where one is buried. It has been twisted to put fear into people to 'help' them believe! You know, the usual brainwashing...

Raised as a Catholic and I have never heard anyone speak such terms, I was taught to respect others and that includes their faith if they have one.

If they haven't it's none of my business.

The evangelical brothers and sisters do like to take things to the extremes. You have to be 'saved' or else it's hellfire and damnation for all eternity.

I don't care what religion anyone is as it has no impact on me whatsoever!

Oooh mamya,not what I know of Catholics....but each religion IMO is tarnished to suit its beliefs. Very device is Catholicism so I cannot accept that somewhere along the line you are taught to respect other religions. That is why IMO I cannot justify ANY religion because it is divisive and meant to harm those who do not subscribe to a 'true religion' whichever that may be....oh if only people were enlightened....how much simpler would life be...! !

I was never damned to Hell by Parent, Teacher or Priest - was always taught to respect others.

My Mother was stricter than my Father as she was a convert but equally such terminology was never used.

So far as I have been taught, 'Hell' is simply an absence of Heaven. None of this burning/torture stuff.

I don't mean that I was sat down and preached at to respect other Religions Dunnitall, I was taught to respect other people.
