I take that to be a reference to a false prophet then Theland? Now.... I am not sure the warning specifies a physical rise but it may indicate a rise in belief, following, influence, and adherence of the teachings of a false prophet. Any ideas?

I believe within certain parameters, the interpretation is a bit speculative, but certainly the false prophet and antichrist will come.
There are already several antichrists, the Roman Church being just one.
There is also a spirit of antichrist, a general rejection of truth of Jesus Christ.
The moves towards globalism, a one world economic system, a one world religion etc are setting the stage for the arrival of a person who would fulfill this role.
