If I *need* (why would I need?) to believe in a God for whatever reason (Eternal life. Avoiding eternal hell etc) then how could I be sure that the God that I believed in would be the one?
If 'God' himself appeared to me how could I be sure that this entity would indeed be the God of truth and not some impersonating spirit/delusion/demon/ etc?
Ive sometimes been asked what would turn me into a believer.
The answer is that I don't know.
But any God who cares enough about me WOULD know.
After 53 yrs on this Earth, I can only conclude that
1) God doesn't want me (or he would show me that he exists...no questions asked)
2) God doesn't exist
Either way, the problem is not mine.

//Nailit - I have nothing but deep affection and respect for you.
I am honoured to have known you for so long//
But your God's going to torture me in unimaginable pain for all eternity for the sin of not been able to believe? Will you still have deep affection for me then while your god is torturing me for eternity?
//My faith is purely biblical, and I have not time for deviations from the bible teachings.
Religions in general are man made//
Every Christians faith is purely biblical. Just not as biblical as yours obviously. And all religions are man made...except yours of course!
//I do not consider myself superior to anybody, but I consider myself blessed for knowing Jesus Christ.//
You don't consider yourself superior to anybody except Richard Dawkins, or other evolutionary scientists, or atheists in general, or those of different faiths, or ……
//Richard Dawkins is indeed a poor deluded fool.. //
Matthew 5:22?
//I am prepared to discuss his theories with you as long as I am treated in a friendly manner//
Its a two way street.

In any discussion it is not illegitimate to quote from or reference a book.
Equally it is not illegitimate to reference a YouTube video where we have the benefit of hearing lectures from the worlds leading thinkers.
Yet I have been admonished for doing this.
And this referencing is of course available to atheists.

//I have watched many Dawkins, Tyson and Krauss videos and did not find them convincing//
Well you wouldn't would you?
Neither did I when I was a Christian. Why was that? Was it maybe because I had my fingers in my ears singing ''nah nah nah' because they were presenting facts that went against my beliefs maybe?

//What are your thoughts?//
My thoughts are that I agree with naomi.
No supernatural explanation needed and when you REALLY look into biblical prophecy regarding Israel, what you have now bares no resemblance to what the bible ACTUALLY predicted. What you have is a few 'soundbites' from selected scripture to make an event retroactively fit a supposed prophecy.
Havnt got time to go into it now because I urgently need my bed.
Suffice to say that I once believed as you did...until I opened my mind (or intellect) and realised that I was wrong.

If anyone interested in a book as opposed to a you tube clip
