With the UK heading towards being a Muslim country by 2050 (probably before). Which of these alternatives would you prefer to live under?
The choice though, as things stand, appears to be hypothetical, I'm afraid.

//The mistake he makes is that he thinks his Christianity gives him permission to be cruel , judgemental and hurtful - it doesn't. //

My Christianity is/was something I have kept to myself until now.
The only cruelty I have witnessed, in my silence, is that by the proudly self professed atheists who will sneer and put down at every opportunity those who follow a faith. I find the atheists on this site are the most judgemental, loud mouthed and leary more so than those who hitherto have kept silent.
We have criminal thugs and hypocritical atheists who go to mass every Sunday. I would sooner keep company with Mdme Jourdain and hereiam thank you.
Didn't Jesus say something about not judging others?
//I find the atheists on this site are the most judgemental, loud mouthed and leary //

I didn't think I was any of those things (well, maybe just a little judgemental) but I guess that's me told then. :o/
I've been thinking about Christianity a lot recently, after a family death. There's a lovely old church in my village and I realised that within a three mile radius of it there are six other beautiful old churches, which nowadays must struggle to keep going, when once they were the absolute, essential heart of their little communities.

I was brought up in the Church of England, but am not now a church-goer - or even a believer, come to that - but I love visiting these and other churches and cathedrals when I get the chance, and I find hope and solace when I spend some time in their walls. What would England have been without them?

So my answer to the above hypothetical question is: Christianity
I have already stated that I do not the sneering, jeering and mockery - what I found wrong with your earlier post was how you didn't name the OP but at the same time made it perfectly plain both to him and other readers who were talking about and as said, you haven't lived the lives of others.

I don't care for folk being devious.
I wasn't referring to you naomi. I am sure you wouldn't kick a young family member out the house whatever religion you may choose to follow or not.?
^My reply was to Retrocop, should have made that clear.
With many places of Worship there is a wonderful air of serenity Brainiac, I agree.
Mamyalynne, I might have the wrong end of the stick but I think the poster in question was named at 23:02. I can't see why that's devious.
Stop, Retro, you're making yourself look nasty.
Not in the original reference @ 20.02 Naomi.
Oh right. You obviously got the gist though.
I'll walk now, said all I wanted to.

Selfishly speaking, by 2050 I'll have taken my beliefs in my little knapsack on the final trek ....if there is one.x
I wouldn't wager my belief in one god would save me from someone who believes just as fervently in another god.
i don't believe in any God, how can you when naturalists, scientists have debunked the God factor and proven to most people's satisfaction that God doesn;t exist.

What I am suggesting is that the laissez-faire attitude of the atheists, running through this thread, culminates in what inspired it viz. I received a card from an intelligent though foolish person (the worst combination) which said, "Happy Holiday", what the hell is that all about? it's Christmas! & yet is she so uptight that she can't even say it? & if we are now to celebrate holidays, why not send one for Bank Holidays too?
//"Happy Holiday", what the hell is that all about? it's Christmas!//

Yes, it is Christmas. If it wasn't there would be no holiday. I know people who can't bring themselves to say it. Pretty childish in my opinion. Little rebels! :o)
retrocop - // I am sure you wouldn't kick a young family member out the house whatever religion you may choose to follow or not.? //

OK, we've got the message, loud and clear, you don't need to keep on repeating it every time it crosses your mind, which seems to be more often than is healthy!
retrocop - // No man would throw a young vulnerable daughter out on the street to fend for herself. My values would not allow me to consider doing that. //

I think you have made your point on this issue - you have pronounced several times on a difficult situation that was dealt with by people you know nothing about, in circumstances you know nothing about, but as a 'Christian', you think you have the right to judge and pronounce, and you absolutely do not.

Atheism is nothing to do with what occurred - ask my wife, a practising Catholic, she was there too, and party to the horrendous decision we had to make for reasons you don't know, and I am not going to waste my time justifying to a stranger.

// Thank god I am not proud to profess myself an atheist. //

Nor am I - as I have said, I'm not 'proud to profess' anything.

//What is your justification if any? //

I don't have to justify myself to you or anyone else.

Interesting that you clutter the thread with your family history, and then profess yourself a Christian, and then do the exact opposite of what your faith requires - you are nasty, judgemental, grudge-bearing, hostile - all the things your faith professes to be against, that makes you a hypocrite.

You have made your point about me, and my family, and no-one cares, so you can drop it now and turn your judgement and moral preaching to someone else on here.

Maybe you can find another stranger to attack - maybe someone who cares, but I seriously doubt it.

You are not a Christian in any sense that I understand it.
AH to Retrocop, //Interesting that you clutter the thread ...//

I do wish you'd stop telling people they 'clutter' up threads. Your posts are consistently far longer than most .... and, like you, we are all at liberty to decide how much we post.
