… under pressure from LGBTQ+ campaigners who say statements Graham had made were incompatible with their values, and that his appearance would be divisive, could be disruptive or lead to a breach of the peace. His lawyers are trying to reverse the decision.

Franklin Graham is the son of US evangelist Billy Graham.

Should he be allowed to speak? Your thoughts?

The venues that have cancelled should not be forced to reconsider.

Other venues should be allowed to host his tour if they wish.
What a strange situation. Bigots v snowflakes. I await the result of the attempt to make the venues let him speak with interest.
It's a sign I tell ya.

Perhaps the scissor sisters and friends of Dorothy could now retire for a cup of tea in the annexe.
I think he should be allowed. No speech leads to "breach of the peace". Other people do that, if they want to.
I think he should be allowed to speak.

Withdrawing free speech from someone on the basis of what he has said in the past - but may not say in the present, is a denial of basic right of expression.

If people believe Mr Graham is divisive, and un-Christian, surely it is reasonable to allow him his platform, then everyone who does not have an opinion, and wishes to form their own, has a chance to do so.
Think Zacs put it best...
//Bigots v snowflakes//
;-)

Let him preach his gospel vile and let the rest of us decide if we agree or not.
If we believe in free speech, then that MUST include letting those speak, that we disagree with.

As a teenage, unemployed Christian, I attended a Billy Graham crusade back in the early 80's in Liverpool....remember been mesmorized at the amount of bank notes in the collection bucket.
The Grahams dont do this sort of thing for nothing!!
Always thought it a bit weird how they called these things 'Crusades' given the history and bloodshed of the actual crusades??
I say let the man speak! You can hardly blame him for making a living out of exploiting the irrational fears of the plebs (don't worry, it's Latin).
I suppose he should be allowed to speak, but if the venues dont want him to do so on their stages, thhen thats fine too.
From what Ive read about both Him and his father they are both nasty pieces of work...
Stick a religious term like 'Christian' or 'Evangelist' on someone and somehow they become untouchable.
Piece of crud in my book anyhow....
Nasty piece of excretment.
How 'free' will his speaking be?

What were/are the planned admission charges?

Still,if folk want to hear him then maybe some venue can make some brass too.

Off the backs of some young unfortunates believing this bile??
Would you feel the same Mamy if he was a Scientologist?
How would you have felt if this guy was a member of Heavens Gate back in the 90's?
And you had a close family member in that cult?
To be totally honest Nailit, I don't really feel anything at all about him , am simply commenting on the above link - I agree that some preachers can be a danger to the young and impressionable.

It's ups to us to protect them as best we can whilst they are young, hence maybe a high admission fee may at least prevent the young on pocket money from accessing such so called crusades.
//I agree that some preachers can be a danger //
What preachers would that be? The one that disagree with you?

I just dont get it (Well i do)
Franklin is an even more perverse incarnation of his father (Billy) who was a liar at best and a bigot at worst. (and was caught out lying on several occassions)

That strong light in my eyes is worsening my headache - I have simply commented on the piece and am now regretting it.
I don't think he's not being allowed to speak. It's just that people who were supporting the tour have now decided not to, which is up to them. I don't care too much either way. He sounds like a loon.
Imagine if he was to shout 'burning bush' in a crowded theatre!
