Theland - // Andy, does my opinion constitute preaching?
If so, how? //

It doesn't.

Your opinion is just that - your opinion.

The preaching comes in with the way you present it, or, more accurately, the way you haughtily dismiss naomi for questioning what you say, and asking on multiple occasions for you to point out where you believe she is in error.

Obviously we have never met, but my impression of you is that you would answer questions in the way Michael Foot used to - that little half-laugh as you wind-up your monologue, as though that's the most fatuous question you have ever heard, but you are going to indulge your questioner as though she is a five year old with a personality defect, and you must be patient with the little girly because she knows nothing about anything.

If you address people on here with the respect they deserve as your intellectual equals, you may get some respect in return.

History shows that is unlikely, but hope springs eternal as they say ...
The world that you say was created entirely by a deity.
Why is ‘he’ not responsible for the bad bits as well as the good bits?
Oh and I have a scientific background and the intellect to see the proof that science reveals.
No I think we are quite capable of screwing the world up on our own without blaming a mythical deity.
Theland, I don’t ‘look for anything with which to attack the bible’. I read what’s there and attempt to piece the jigsaw together in a rational manner.

If, as you claim, there was nothing before creation, and God was the creator of everything, it stands to reason that whatever exists is the direct result of God’s handiwork - even the potential for evil. If that isn’t so, who or what do you think created the bits you don’t like?

Furthermore, you say I fail to even guess the answers to the big questions - and you’re right. Guesses aren’t answers.

As for suppressing evidence, what evidence do you think I suppress?

Incidentally, I would appreciate it if you could find it within yourself to refrain from these on-going personal attacks. You complain that others are insulting but you, in fact, are one of the worst offenders.
Andy - I do respect Naomi, but feel irritated when she talks down to me, or at least her tone suggests it.
I do not consciously disrespect anybody, and if I do, then not only do I apologise but would appreciate my error being pointed out to me.
This is after all supposed to be a sociable and friendly site, like walking into the pub and striking up a conversation with some strangers.
Or maybe its not?
(Jackets off see you outside!)
Naomi I have definitely not attacked you personally.
//you lack the humility to consider any position other than you always being right. //

No Theland? What's that^ then?
Jakep - Thank goodness you have a scientific back!ground.
I look forward to your input to my benefit.
I search for truth, and if I can understand the science I will gladly follow where it leads.
Naomi, I suggest you consider what you say and why you say it.
You quote expertly without quoting any experts.
Rather puzzling.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Find it hard to think that people are arguing about their imaginary friend....good grief.
What experts would you like me to quote, Theland? The people you call experts have no more information available to them than is available to me ... or you .... or anyone. What makes them more expert than anyone else who has taken the trouble to examine the evidence?
Theland - // Andy - I do respect Naomi, but feel irritated when she talks down to me, or at least her tone suggests it. //

Then you should know exactly who she, and I feel then!

// I do not consciously disrespect anybody, and if I do, then not only do I apologise but would appreciate my error being pointed out to me. //

I have done so, endlessly for months on end, to no effect, so I fail to see the point of doing so again.
I look forward to conversing with Jakep, otherwise I'm finished.
You're not going to answer my questions, Theland, despite initiating them? Why not?
Theland - // I look forward to conversing with Jakep, otherwise I'm finished. //

Except you're not, and you know it and everyone else knows it as well.

We are all grownups here - taking your ball home is not the response of a mature adult, why don't you stick around and answer some questions - heaven knows you ask enough of them ...
16.35 My question remains unanswered.
Jakep - God gave us free will and that led to a fallen world, where sickness and death reside.
There are two evils, natural evil, like earthquakes and other death producing disasters including sickness.
But there is moral evil, where humans misuse their God given free will to carry out crimes against humanity.
F
So if God hadn't given us free will there wouldn't be any evil?
