Others have lost confidence in religion. - look how church have behaved over the centuries,” “people have turned away from them because they no longer - believe in them as a moral arbiter.” . “If you look at the way the true Religion - is to - restricted .??

Yes it’s on the wane. As a Christian myself I can see why many feel that “religion” is not for them as many atrocities carried out in the name of religion over the centuries.

I can’t comment on other religions but from a Christian standpoint I believe The problem is not with the religion itself but rather that some of its most powerful followers are corrupt. Humans sin after all.

Imagine what a perfect world it wld be However if every person In the world simply followed the 10 commandments. The commandments cover everything needed for world harmony I believe
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius. The transition from the Piscean, age of the fish, ie Christianity, to the Aquarian will be very turbulent as is self evident.
Yes. The modern world has no need for prehistoric claptrap.
I imagine The “True religion“ to be the first religion Which is probably 100s of thousand years ago, Very long before Christianity Etc ever came about
Organised religion brings less and less to the modern human as a social pastime, so it's understandable that people spend their time on other hobbies and clubs nowadays - which is all that church was to many people in recent times.

The 10 commandments allow slavery, drug abuse, cruel treatment of animals and that's just 3 I can think of off the top of my head.

Aye my favourite of the 10 commandments is number 11, ‘must get *** faced’

Ha ha yes every weekend, religiously!
Define "true" religion
I had exactly the same reaction of Woofgang. What is "true" religion? The answer can only be a subjective and personal perception of the issue, for one person's truth is another person's nonsense.
The question itself is therefore loaded with value judgement so there can be no objective answer.
Is true religion dying out?

Let's hope so.
Christianity is probably dying out faster than the others but what do you expect when the Churches sit on millions while people starve and Archbishops and Popes involve themselves in Politics?

Islam still appears to have many followers though.
"Religious and morality"

The two are completely unrelated.
Which is the true religion...? Actually I don't really care because it really is time for this human invention to disappear...If people need an invented ancient 'god' in their lives in order to behave well towards others then they are just not worth anything....those that behave with kindness and care towards others without fearing said invented deity of any religion are those that are worth caring about.
well that's pretty judgemental. Does in matter why people act with kindness and compassion so long as they do?
Woofgang....I actually think it does and I do get concerned about peoples behaviour being dependant on trying to live for eternity through a belief in a human created religion rather than being inately kind...and lets be honest.... if you behave appallingly but say sorry to a created god that does not exist some believe that all will be forgiven...but of course unlikely that forgiveness will be forthcoming by those that have been hurt. Seems like madness to me
'True Religion', or 'The Truth', is a term used by JWs to describe their own perverted variation of Christianity. The very tone of some of these posts is a dead giveaway.
but that's about bad behaviour. Isn't it better that people chould be kind and compassionate because they believe that's what their god wants than for them to be cruel and not believe in god?
MallyJ has hit the nail firmly on the head.

One expression that really gets up my nose is ‘Christian values’; they’re not Christian values, they’re just simply values.

You don’t need to be Christian in order to be moral.
Anyone that takes the concept of confessional forgiveness to be a sort of 'off the hook' scenario hasn't understood it at all - it's simply between the believer and their God with a conduit between.

Nothing can ever atone for wrong doings unless it's action and recompense (if possible) by the wrongdoer.
Deskdiary "You don’t need to be Christian in order to be moral."

No of course you don't but Mally indicates that she would rather people were evil and unkind so long as they don't believe in a god.
