Why are we?
A street preach in my home town today proclaiming the 'End Times'.
JW's on AB preaching the 'End Times'
Evangelicals preaching the 'End Times'

Eh?
Why?
Where does this information come from?
Jesus and St Paul might have thought that they were living in the 'End Times' but the world carried on (for 2000 years)

People during the Great Plague could be forgiven that they were living in the 'End Times'
It must of seemed like it at the time.
People that celebrated the year 2000 could also perhaps be forgiven (Millenium bug etc)
Same with 2012 and the Mayen prophicies etc
World war 1
World war2
were both seen as 'End of the World' prophecies.
Add infunitem....

The world will carry on.
Wars will still abound.
People will still go hungry.
Earthquakes will still happen.
Viruses will still affect us.
And religion will still be irrelevant.

//Nailit you are simply wrong//
Debate me on it then.

Any takers?

The birth of modern Israel is simply not found anywhere in Biblical prophecy, its a fiction made up by modern doom merchants.
Go on, I dare you to quote Ezikiel...
Nailit, God through His prophets warned the Jews that He would punish them by means of exile and captivity but would
one day gather them back to the land He had promised them through Abraham. God keeps His promises.
No, you won't find a News Report from the Jerusalem Post in the bible, but our contemporary history matches perfectly the prophecies in the bible.
The Jews lost their land and nationhood to Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian empire, and the land itself passed from empire to empire, lastly being the British Empire, who took it from the Ottomans in 1917.
And as has been stated, regained nationhood in 1948, after thousands of years.
Incidentally, there was never an independent state called Palestine, as the Arabs claim.
Israel belongs to the Jews. God keeps His promises.
Turfing people out of their homes and off their land after thousands of years can’t be morally justified by any stretch of the imagination.
The general theme of the Prophets is a restoration of Israel after a period of judgement or exile. In some cases there was a fulfillment as in the return from the Babylonian exile but in most cases the prophets point to a latter day restoration of Israel.
Ezekiel ch 37 v22-23 is as good as any
"Then say to them, "Thus says the Lord God; "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;
and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them them all, they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into kingdoms again"

There you have it.

In Isaiah ch 66v8, the prophet asks ...."Or shall a nation be born at once?"
Well Israel was May 15th, 1948

Jesus spoke of Jerusalem being trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (Luke ch21)
Well that was certainly the case from the destruction of the temple by the Romans until the Jews re-captured Jerusalem in June 1967.

There yo go Nailit I think I've nailed it

//Then say to them, "Thus says the Lord God; "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land//

Except it hasnt happened....
This 'prophecy' was referring to ALL the tribes of Israel reuniting with the tribe of Judah (the jews)
The Levites, Danites, Gadites etc.
Since the tribes of Israel have been lost to antiquity its not happened or is going to happen (unless you can tell me who the present day Levites, Danites and Gadites are in Israel right now?

verse 22
//I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms//
Hasnt happened

That same chapter (Ezekiel 37) goes on to say that Israel will be one nation under one king (David) Its never had a king and certainly not David.

And atheist get accused of taking biblical verses 'out of context'
???

The only way to make biblical prophecy 'fit' is to take snippets here and there, while ignoring what was obviously intended at the time.
Nailit - what drivel.
Naomi - Lazy.
Question Author
Cognitive Bias at its best is when religionists take scriptures that support what they want to believe (or in fairness, what they've been told to believe) while ignoring the context. And then accusing anyone questioning their view as taking it out of context.
Ezekiel 37 has absolutely NOTHING to do with the modern state of Israel.

Question Author
//Nailit - what drivel.//
Thanks for convincing me and saving my soul.
Well if you say so, that is the end of the matter.
You don't be?keve in a soul, God, or the bible, so what is there to save?
Question Author
Tell me why its 'Drivel' then...
God said He would punish the Jews with captivity and exile.
He did.
He said He would regather His people from all over the world.
He did.
There is far too much to put into a couple of posts, especially when it is not a discussion about the prophecy, but from the tone of your posts, you are out to ridicule, and promote your atheism.
A waste of time and effort.
Question Author
And why the hell is naomi 'lazy'?
wt f is it with religionists?
Question Author
//He said He would regather His people from all over the world.//
He didnt/hasnt

Where are the modern day Levites? Gadites? etc?

Question Author
EH?
Seriously?
A Wiki link to David ben Gurion proves what?
It was in response to your " it has never had a king and certainly not David "
Israel's first leader wasn't a king but he was a David .

Returning to the main point of your question - about the end times - I've mentioned before on other questions about the cashless society .
If/when they withdraw cash then any doubts in my mind about whether we are in the end times will be gone .
There are many pieces of the jigsaw puzzle coming together to form the big clear picture.
The cashless society is just one piece.
The pope making a sterling effort to bring all of the worlds religions under his authority, a one world religion. That's another piece.
The efforts that have gone on for decades to unite Europe, and all have failed. Napoleon, Hitler, The Common Market, The European Economic Community, now the European Union. All have failed bit they keep on trying. That's another piece.
Israel surrounded by enemies, Hama's, Hezbollah, Iran, Syria and all the other Arab countries, that's another piece.
And there is much much more.
Far too many pieces in play now to be dismissed as coincidence.
One could be forgiven for thinking that one had a handle on what leads to tormented minds, sucking up this drivel like it's all true while all around the proof is there that there's nobody and nothing in charge or control.
