God's Plan
304 Answers
Following on from the horrific news of a little boy killed by lightning -
I am genuinly intrigued to hread how any of our Christian contributors can begin to reconcile this tragedy with the notion that their 'loving' God, who clearly allowed it to happen, could let such a loss be felt by his parents and family.
What part of 'God's Plan' is working here?

Your hubris continually leads you to an unfounded belief that anyone who doesn't think like you (& thank god there's a lot of them) is stupid.

Khandro - // Give it up andy, you've shot yourself in the foot with this thread ... //
I disagree, I have simply asked a question which you and your fellow fervents have singularly failed to answer, which is entirely as I expected.
Instead, you have wheedled and prevaricated, and eventually descended into rudeness, again entirely playing to type.
// I told you earlier that you were an embarrassment even to the atheist fraternity as has been born out on previously. //
'Atheist fraternity'????
What on earth are you talking about???????????????????
There is no 'atheist fraternity' - no such thing exists, either on here, or in the wider world?
Why on earth would it?
Atheists have no need to cling to others who think as they do to provide that essential security blanket that fervents need in the middle of the night, when the awkward unanswerable questions keep them awake.

Your irony is as boundless as your arrogance, when you accuse me and one other of being 'clueless' and 'needing people like you to explain ...'
I think we are done here.
Your rudeness shows no sign of abating, your arrogance remains like a badge you wear proudly, and anyone who is interested can see from this thread, and others, that you have no answers, so you resort to pompous wind-baggery and petty insults.
You carry on thinking you are right, as you must, and justifying your arrogance on here day in day out, as you must.
The majority of people don't care - but i do notice that your fellow fervents leave you to fight your corner alone - injteresting, since you all believe what a tight band of brothers and sisters you all are.
We both believe we are right - but only one of us is pompous and rude to others, to back up our fear of being found out - unable to back beliefs that have no evidence.
I have no beliefs - so that must just leave you then.

Mamya - // I'm still sulking cos you said I wasn't fervent, doubt I'll ever recover. //
I would wish you to be delighted that I do not think of you as a 'fervent' - just look at the company you would be mixing in!!!
As I have said endlessly, I have absolutely no problem with anyone who has a faith, of any kind.
What irks me is the notion that some faith holders - and I think we know to whom I am referring - like to presume sort sort of utterly undeserved superiority over others who do not think of they do, combined with a pitying attitude that the same others do not bask in their level of morbid self-satisfaction.
You need only to read this thread from one end to the other, to see that a fervent is the last thing a reasonable level-headed person of faith like you would ever want to be.

// Take heart, mamyalynne. I think you're fervent where your fervency is appreciated so all is not lost. ;o) //
If we are using the term 'fervent' in its dictionary form - as a description of someone who has a strong belief, then I will take mamya's fervency any day of the week - it doesn't make my teeth itch when she posts about it!!!
