Following on from the horrific news of a little boy killed by lightning -

I am genuinly intrigued to hread how any of our Christian contributors can begin to reconcile this tragedy with the notion that their 'loving' God, who clearly allowed it to happen, could let such a loss be felt by his parents and family.

What part of 'God's Plan' is working here?

I must have missed the 'humour' in being told I am 'clueless' and 'need people like you to explain...'.

A lack of self awareness on that scale should concern you, but of course, God lets you behave like that, so that's ok.
ah //God lets you behave like that, so that's ok.//

Which demonstrates your understanding of the Christian religion is zero, & yet you continue spouting forth seemingly unembarrassed.
If I knew so little about a subject as you do on religion, I'd keep well quiet.
There's not many atheists actually understand Christianity, and so fall back on their default position to conjour up criticisms, which are easily dismissed with a bit of research.
Khandro, could you please explain the Christian religion to us non-Christians? Just so we know what we are accused of.
Everybody is guilty of sin.
The wages of sin is death.
Jesus died taking our punishment for us, and offering is the free gift of forgiveness. If we pit our hope faith and trust in Him.
That's it in a nutshell.
So the murder of one innocent man pays of the 'sin' of being born a human. I'll pass on that offering.
Yes He was without sin and offered Himself up to God to take the punishment that was rightfully ours.
Now through faith we can accept the free gift of forgiveness and gain eternal life.
Bit that it not the beginning. The beginning is now and the changes that ta!e p!ace in our lives here and now.
Living by the power of the Holy Spirit.
What people need to be taught to understand is that we pay here and now through the consequences of our beliefs, choices and actions. The refusal to acknowledge the cost to ourselves and to that which we hold dear, only adds interest to the debt. Seeking justice beyond death is intellectual suicide.
Yes we pay for our sins now with a guilty conscience. But that does not even begin to address the whole question of a creator.
The universe didn't create itself, and I don't expect you to even attempt an explanation, must more fudge.
Without the universe, the notion that it was 'created', at all, by anyone would not exist. Gods and fudge slingers are the product of an overactive imagination unrestrained by a fundamental grasp of the nature of reality.
That is the biggest fudge of the day for sure.
The nature of reality?
Wow! Don't tell me you know what it is!

Theland at 00.51 - well parted, shame you lack a single original thought.

Perhaps they surgically remove them in Fervent School ...
Theland, he offered himself ...

Tripe ... and if you think about it what rational
being would accept such an offer?
Atheist //Khandro, could you please explain the Christian religion to us non-Christians? ..//
So you don't even understand what it is that you are opposed to?
That I would say, is bigotry of the first order.
I think 'offering' may be the word you were looking for, Naomi.

I used the word I wanted to
use spungle.
Andy, original thought? I wasn't aware it was a competition for original thought!
My thoughts are a reiteration of what I have learned, and worked out in the light of much evidence.
Sadly, (or maybe gloriously), I am bereft of the gift of using many words without actually saying anything meaningful, as per MIBs, who does it quite successfully.
Naomi @ 17:33 -
You should concentrate on Gods existence before attempting to dismantle any dogma. You are not qualified.
Theland, I’m well qualified to challenge your bizarre claims. What qualifies you to make them?

Incidentally, you’ve dodged the question again .... but you know that.
17'35? Have you never before heard of people, through love, laying down their lives for others?
Strange.
