Religionists. What Have You Got To Offer Me?
177 Answers
Seriously, what you got to offer me?
Or is it a case of what I can avoid!
I'm deadly (excuse the pun) serious. But what can your belief system/religion/spiritual tradition/ offer me except a free pass out of hell?
An eternity of Hallelujah's?
For Eternity????

My mum has been advised that the cancer is worse than thought - and my dad has ceased all communications with us today (and mum the patient is saying she doesn’t feel up to talking about it )
Bruv feels that our dad Shld be communicating today - but I disagree n said “she’s HIS wife”. .... the 2 of them come first with this sort of thing. She was his wife / he her husband before us kids came along and therefore we are not the prime ones in the line for the info (ps they WILL tell us but today they are too much in shock i think)

I still maintain that for a man to think of his mother in terms of being 'another man's wife' is peculiar - and it does not cease to be peculiar becomes some literary figure refers to it.
As far as I can see, the two relationships are mutually exclusive - why on earth would I be thinking of my mother in terms of 'another man'?
Weird.

I dont feel that ref to someone as “his wife” or “her husband” is objectifying.
I’m proud to be a wife. Just like I’m proud of the job that I do, am proud of being my parents daughter, my brothers sister. It’s only one aspect of any of us and I’m never offended to be ref as “the wife of xxx “ //
You're missing the point I'm trying to make Eve. All those aspects of yourself are true but no single one of them defines you. I'm not for one moment suggesting that one shouldn't be 'proud' to be someone's wife, husband, greengrocer, boss or whatever. That's not what I said and not what I mean.
Khandro - rude as usual.
