If there was a God, I would like him to reveal his existance ...and his will for my life... directly. Not through AB preachers, the pope, you tube, a book or anything else that can easily be debunked.
As to date, nothing to report.

If it's your belief that there is no God, that's your choice. And if I choose to believe in God, however irrational it may seem to you (so long as you don't ram your beliefs down my neck, or vice-versa) couldn't we agree to respect each other? I guess this may be asking too much, for Answerbank.
As for Unicorns, it is documented that 6% of Americans (I don't have data for the UK) do believe in them. Thats roughly 20 million people. I don't believe in them, but if they wish to, fine by me.

Spungle. Do you really not find it worrying that 6% of Americans believe in unicorns? I find that terrifying. It's a rather low percentage, but you say it means roughly 20 million people.
At least it must be far fewer than those other people round the world who believe in all the other 'gods' or supernatural beings. That's even more frightening. I don't think the average UK christian is a bad person, but I do worry that baseless belief is so widespread. There seems to be an acceptance of belief without evidence, and that really scares me.

No, it's not.
Respect earned is respect given.
Sadly, a lot of your fellow believers who are regulars on the site do not understand the notion of mutual respect - they are too busy patronising and being rude to people who think differently.
Check the thread histories - you can find plenty of evidence to support that view.

Atheist: "Spungle. Do you really not find it worrying that 6% of Americans believe in unicorns?"
No, I find it interesting, and I think if you search for "How many Americans believe that Elvis is alive", or "Have seen a ghost", "Believe in evolution theory", or "think the earth is flat", you would also find millions of people subscribing to these beliefs which others find ridiculous. Surely what is more terrifying is that people are willing to believe that science has all the answers, or that we can only believe in what we see with our own eyes. Some would argue science is less about having the answers, but teaching us to ask the questions.
I am clearly not going to agree with your suggestion that Christianity is baseless, and am more sorry that you are "scared" of faith.

It is interesting you should just divide those who post on this site into "believers" and "non-believers"- if only life were that simple! Because I am a "believer" doesn't mean that is my defining characteristic, and doesn't take into account any of my personal circumstances, worldview, politics, etc etc, any more than if I was to clump all "non-believers" together. It's easy for you to say these other posters are my "fellows" but I could also say your fellow "Brits", fellow "men", fellow "liberals" etc. We are not some sort of elite group with a label. I think the key is in what you say about "thinking differently"- that's the whole point of exchanging views surely.

And that is the entire root cause of the issues on here.
There is a hardcore group of three or four believers who absolutely believe themselves an 'elite group' and they patronise and condescend accordingly.
It is not I who separates them - it is themselves - again I refer you to numerous thread histories to see the point I am making.
The Return Of The God Hypothesis, Dig God Use Evolution To Create Life, and Modern Israel - Fulfilment Of Bible Prophesy are all live active threads.
Have a read of those - you will see what I am talking about.

I honestly dont get this idea that belief is a choice
//If it's your belief that there is no God, that's your choice//
I just dont get it?
How can you make yourself believe something?
As a child you can maybe make yourself believe in Santa or something but as you grow older you mature out of that.
You start to question the tooth fairy. You start to question EVERYTHING.
At what point do you make yourself BELIEVE in something?
How is belief a choice?
I can believe all I wish to, that my eyes were brown. But they are not, they are blue.
Try as I might, I cannot in all honesty believe that my eyes are brown.
I cannot believe something that is patently false.
