I am not a disbeliever but a 67 year old Roman Catholic, not that that cuts much ice with Theland, and I have never been delivered religious teaching in such an adversarial fashion in my life.

Had that been my early experience then I would surely be an atheist myself by now.

Seriously, Theland, this sort of stuff really does not encourage me to embrace Christianity. Its frankly, BS.

I live a life whereby I am kind to others, I do not intentionally hurt people, I treat others as I would like to be treated, but I'll stand up for myself. I do not do this in the hope of eternal salvation, I do this because it is the right thing to do and it is how I like to be.

I know people who go to church on a Sunday and are oh so terribly pious and the minute they walk out of those doors they start their nastiness and vitriol.

If you do stuff in the hope of salvation, rather than because you believe that is the right way, that's a bit selfish and a bit stupid.

I'll see your Christianity and raise you just being kind.
