Only the bible describes the state of the world as we head into the End Times.
Only the bible has verifiable prophecies that can be tested for truth.
Is it not time to take the bible seriously?

the letter in the Times today said: Bible Studies Dear Sir, Keith Elliott writes about the debate over the exclusive authority of the New Testament (credo letters). Christians believe that canonical scripture was established under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. That some books entered the canon 'by the skin of their teeth' is immaterial....

anne - // So it happens, but is not acceptable ? //

Another text-book example of the So Rule.

I'm sure you'll forgive me if I don't continue the thread derailment by carrying on discussing this side issue.

Thank you.
I’d be silly to carry on in this thread Mr.Hughes . I have no idea what the ‘ so rule is ‘ .
Allow me to elucidate -

The So Rule is a shorthand label for the common occurrence on the site when someone posts something and someone else completely misunderstands, and then criticises the poster for something they didn't actually say in the first place.

Such responses are prefaced by the immortal phrase, "So what you're saying is ..." followed by something the poster was not saying at all, and then criticising the poster for a view that was not theirs in the first place!

Not everyone uses the whole intro, just a "So..." will do, but you get the idea.
Sigh, how tedious.
Just to clarify, there is no 'so' rule. AH made it up.
So, bumptious then.
Just to clarify, Naomi and Douglas are not known for their sense of humour.
Theland - Am I likely to actually receive a response to my repeated question?

Andy,
I have Good News about Jesus Christ that I want to share with you, with everybody.
You deserve it. You all do.
That's my answer.

Your opening statement. Please explain how that is sharing good news about Jesus Christ?
And whilst you’re at it theland, stop patronising people.
// "So what you're saying is ..." followed by something the poster was not saying at all,///

followed by something outrageously stupid that it reminds you of a sulky teenager who has just walked into the room ( and so hasnt heard the antecedent, or as Naomi says a lot: " has a completely blank mind")

This habit prededes the 'so rule' by well a thousand years at least

1162 'so, what about celebrating Holy Mass in the cathedral?' to Thomas a Becket

1649 (NS) so it is a bit chilly outside, hope you have remembered your woolies (to Charles I, late jan)

31BC - ant ( or tone) so you havent been so successful on land. what about a sea battle - Actium looks OK !
Ant - carry on Cleo !

(examples of the so rule in History)
Naomi has never said that, pp.
// Your opening statement. Please explain how that is sharing good news about Jesus Christ?//

er because thro Jesus Christ, He will tell you how it will be and then He will make it like that.... god Vulvan what WERE you doing during all those church parades?

It depends on how much you think the NT is prophetic.

" 17After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves. 18For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”

sounds pretty prophetic but it wasnt like that

see above: has the text been tarted up to show a desired result?
Well the first problems were gnostic texts and then the marcionites ( see above again ) and so probably has been

Let us pray

So, I have probably misunderstood you again Naomi - I usually do
feel free to clarify and say exactly the opposite

Meanwhile back at the Acts of the Apostles ( which I dont approach with a blank mind) they describe the days of the early church - - and are not prophetic and have been extensively reworked

// Just to clarify, there is no 'so' rule. AH made it up.//

eek ! There has been a thread on the so rule
someone found it as irritating as I find - foo, fink, end of and righto!. and invited examples

No I am not gonna look - - i think Naomi might have been doing her blank mind bit again
-- answer removed --
Classic case of attempting to make sense of the Bible. Time better spent applying silly putty to the Sunday funnies. No matter how far you stretch it or how hard you squeeze it it retains the inviable properties of gobbledygook.

Thank you for your answer - eventually!

I understand your feeling of need to 'share' your 'news' but in my experience, you can only share anything with another person or persons who actually want to share with you.

This is where your desire falls to the ground - anyone on here who wants to share has already done so, the rest simply spend days, weeks, months, and years, telling you that you are not inrerested.

Your persistence in the face of such rebuttal could be construed as bad manners.

As someone who is keen to lecture me on that subject, maybe you should give that some thought.
And God shall grant Eternal Life - to this thread.
