Only the bible describes the state of the world as we head into the End Times.
Only the bible has verifiable prophecies that can be tested for truth.
Is it not time to take the bible seriously?

the letter in the Times today said: Bible Studies Dear Sir, Keith Elliott writes about the debate over the exclusive authority of the New Testament (credo letters). Christians believe that canonical scripture was established under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. That some books entered the canon 'by the skin of their teeth' is immaterial....

mibn2cweus //Classic case of attempting to make sense of the Bible. Time better spent applying silly putty to the Sunday funnies. No matter how far you stretch it or how hard you squeeze it it retains the inviable properties of gobbledygook.//
OMG! Please spare me from bores & rationalists. The bible doesn't make "sense", any more than a summer's day makes "sense". What exactly do you mean by that word?

I would not ask anyone to believe that which they don't understand. If anything I would discourage the practice as understanding is the basis upon which a rational determination of what and what not to be believe (and why) is based.
'Making sense' means understanding the correlation between ones thoughts and experiences and that which in reality gives rise to them. I have no expectation of you understanding that but as a consequence of my understanding, compared to thee, a summer's day makes much more sense.

Theland - // Andy, we can never know the full extent of Gods reality, apart from that which has been revealed to us through His word, and His Son.
That is what we need and is adequate. //
I'm not saying that you don't know the 'full extent of God's reality' - my objection is that you are arrogant enough to assume you know the first thing about it.

I've got written on this 'ere bit a papyrus I found:
"The Christian imagination operates in the psychological consciousness into which Jesus inducted his followers, it is poetic, paradoxical and its truth comes in metaphors."
But .. naomi's old saw at 7:33 above might be applicable to most of AB's resident pagans !

Theland - // Andy, it is not arrogant to believe His revealed word. //
Whether it is his 'revealed word' is something we differ on, so let's not bother going down that cul-de-sac again.
// Is it not more arrogant to say, no, you know better? //
Probably, I wouldn't know, I didn't say it.
The problem is. you spend so much time reading books and the putting your own meanings that suit you on what you read, that you are starting to do it with posts on here.
I only argue with things you say, I don't make up things you don't say and then criticse you for saying them.
Please extend me the same courtesy - remember, you are big on manners ...

There is no my reality, your reality or his, her reality. Reality is not a personal possession. No one owns reality. The best any of us can hope for is to share enough of a mutual comprehension of reality that we are able to form mutual relationships that are in our mutual rational self-interest apart from which there is no point in pursuing any kind of relationship whatsoever.
There is no 'subjective reality'. There is only reality and the rest is all delusion and a shared delusion remains no less a delusion.

And who exactly has access to that 'reality' ? It is not the human concept of objective reality which is perhaps delusional?
Do you believe that 'reality' is 'out there' ; as an entity existing somewhere outside of your limited perceptions ?
