If YOUR holy book told you to kill people,
Would you?

Bet you wouldnt?
So why defend a book that does?
Probably because you havnt read it......

Guns don't kill people, readers of Bibles and Qurans do.

naomi - // AH, //the bible is just as full of instructions to murder people who think differently //

No it isn't. Not at all. //

I am sure a bible scholar will be along in a minute to quote you a few chapters and verses backing up my position.
AH, //It's not possible to aportion responsibility to an abstract concept//

Not that Islam is wholly an abstract concept - but yes it is possible - and it's absolutely right to do so.

You claim to have read the bible. Why don't you back it up?
naomi - // You claim to have read the bible. Why don't you back it up? //

I'm a little busy at the moment with something far more important - I am colour-coding my sock drawer.
AH; //the bible is just as full of instructions to murder people who think differently//

Your ignorance of biblical texts is overwhelming, but it never is a hindrance to your bigotry.
naomi - // Not that Islam is wholly an abstract concept - but yes it is possible - and it's absolutely right to do so. //

An abstract concept is an absolute, something either is an abstract concept, or it is not, there are no degrees.

Secondly, for responsibility to be accepted, it has to be apportioned to one or more individuals personally, and I would hope you are not suggesting that every Muslim should accept responsibility for the actions of a tiny minority of psychopaths claiming to act with their faith as a peg on which they peg their murderous impulses.
Khandro - // Your ignorance of biblical texts is overwhelming, but it never is a hindrance to your bigotry. //

Feeling overwhelmed? I thought you were made of sterner stuff, and I don't think you are in any position to preach to anyone (pun intended) about the notion of bigotry.
The abstract concept in Islam is the belief in God, it is no longer an abstract concept when it rules the everyday life of nearly two billion people.
AH: You've never read the bible have you?
vulcan - // The abstract concept in Islam is the belief in God, it is no longer an abstract concept when it rules the everyday life of nearly two billion people. //

An effect - real or imagined - does not alter the abstract concept in any way.
Khandro - // AH: You've never read the bible have you? //

Is that a statement, or a question?

The usual dissembling of the fervent.

I'll take it as a question - yes, I have read it.
AH; //I'll take it as a question - yes, I have read it.//
Is that true? you are saying you have read the bible in its entirety?
Vulcan, //The abstract concept in Islam is the belief in God, it is no longer an abstract concept when it rules the everyday life of nearly two billion people. //

Exactly.

AH, if you knew anything at all about the religions of the bible - or about Islam - you wouldn't keep making a twit of yourself. Argue about what you know - not about what you don't know. That way at least you have a chance of being right sometimes.
This is in R&S, but the questions were not about religion, they were about psychology.
And religion doesn't influence the mind? Hmmm....
You think?
Pardon?
Your post didn't make sense. The question was - why?
I asked a question. Which bit of it didn't make sense?
Not a question to me then, sorry, I misunderstood.
