Same thing goes for Midwinter (Christmas), Samhain (All Soul's/Halloween) and any number of others.

Apparently the early christians aligned their festivals with the dates of pagan festivals to ease the new converts in gently!!

In fairness, each new pagan religion did the same, and bear in mind they didn't view themselves as pagans, but did regard the older religions as being so. The day will come when Christianity is seen as a pagan religion too.

They steal our festivals and burn our witches and still we are kind to them. What a wonderful lot we Pagans are.

...most of us are pretty openminded, and although shudder about the horific excesses of the past we accept it and get on with life.

To be honest, most derisory comments made in Pagan circles are about fellow Pagans, esp in Wicca!!! There's a known term for it too - bitchcraft!

I'm a Christian and I don't look down my nose at anyone who is'nt. Who am I too judge other's? I believe in Christ and that's enough for me. Happy Easter.
