Halal meat what religion etc

I was on the bus the other day and was noseying into someones conversation and a lady was saying because of her husbands religion they only eat Halal meat and something about killing sheep when a new baby arrives, i only caught part of it and found it quite interesting, i'm curious as to what religion this refers to and if anyone has anymore information, thanks!

Thankyou for the video, it does appear to contradict other views, but then looking at other clips of animal slaughter posted on here, it is not possible to say for fact either way, barbaric methods obviously are used in some places and how the bloke on the video can compare it to abortion i've no idea i turned off after that bit

Surely this is like comparing drowning with smothering. Hanging or being shot...etc etc. My main concern would be the animal welfare up to the point of slaughter. What ever video you see isnt going to be nice. Stunning in over a third of cases doesnt work and in almost every slaughterhouse the electricity isnt up to the right voltage to actually stun the animals. To stun a pig its considered ethical to electrocute them with that stick thing for soemthing like 10 seconds but it actually takes twice as long. If you carry on reading into this Pingum you will want to become vegetarian.

I have to say i'm considering it but judging by what i've learnt tonight i dont think that'd be a bad thing! i agree killing animals is never going to be plesant but if you watch the utube link posted earlier it had me in tears, it wasnt even about the final slaughter as oyu say it's leading up to the killing thats as important, but this was barbaric & unecessary, really whats the need to poke the poor cow in the eyes and cut it's leg tendons

Call me blind to the facts but I can not watch an unsolicited article on animal torture, it is the only thing that upsets me nowadays.

I guess we will agree to differ. I despise the entire islamic faith culture and people. I do so not out of racist ignorance but out of my own life experiences, my own readings and my own insight.

I will defend to the death my stance that I am in no way racist.

Halal killing is wrong, and I am afraid there is little that will change my opinion. As said, I have killed hundreds of animals (FOR FOOD!!!!!!!!) and eat meat daily, so perhaps I am talking out of my arse. But...............that's life and islam is evil.

This whole thread has been most upsetting, and enlightening.
Islam is the greatest threat to western civilisation, and we are importing it and encouraging it, and shying away from it, and the future is bleak for all of us.

Err what is shown in this video? If the animal is being cut quickly in the throat, then fine, as that is how it should be killed in Islam but if not then something is seriously wrong here. Im not gonna watch it because im squeamish.

Anyway here are 2 links if you are willing to look to other sources of information other than the BNP (which are not a proper source to seek information on Islam.) One link is on a well known Islamic scholar and the other is on scientific research on the pros and cons of killing an animal by cutting and stunning. You may still not agree with the Islamic methods of killing but i hope it gives you a better understanding and not labelling Muslims as babaric.

When this practice was incented it was the best practice. Compared to beating an animal to death it was very humane.

Roll forward to today's world and we find ourselves sending animals half way around the world in cruel and inhumane conditions so that they can be ritually killed by an ancient practice.

Halal is an obsolete practice but thanks to the "immutable truth" of religion animals are subjected to unnecessary cruelty. The modern scientifically designed practice if a bolt to the brain is far better.

Just another example of 2000 year old "wisdom" that won't go away because of religion.
