Christians - if Jesus ever returns, as he promised, will you recognise him, or will you consider him to be a deluded lunatic (with all due respect to our very own Luna-tic)? What would he need to say to convince you that he was genuine?

That's a really good point, who knows the truth about the stories of the Bible and if he came back and was less 'powerful' that we think he should be I wonder if you're right and we would brush him aside?

Bear with me on this..........
David Icke claimed, for a while, that he was 'the returned messiah'. Now we all know what we think of David Icke......but suppose.............just suppose he was.

We have a chap who has announced his arrival and been thoroughly scorned and ridiculed. People stick their fingers in their ears and 'laaah.....lahhh.......lahhh' very loudly every time he opens his mouth. He has a small band of followers saying " he is.........really........no, he is !" and we roundly ignore them heaping yet more scorn....

What would the 'real' risen Christ have to do for us to believe him ?
As has oft been observed, if Christ were real and came back, his existing followers would be the first to crucify the lad.
I agree with what Naomi said. But I believe that by then most of the Christians would have or started to change their minds about Jesus (pbuh). I can even tell you where he would come back. According to few Ahadith (Sayings of Muhammed pbuh) Jesus (pbuh) would appear in Damascus (Syria) just before the Sunset. But when which year? There are no clear sayings but references abiut the happening of few things just before that time. Not all of them but most of them have already happened or are happening.
Odd how supposed prophets and the like are never able to make a straightforward statement, but are incredibly vague and wishy washy, isn't it?
Cor, keyplus...............you don't let up, do you ?

Christian, Christian, Christian, Christian, Christian..........do you get the idea, now ?

As Christians do not believe the Koran to hold any truths and see it as, if anything at all, a companion piece to Christian Scripture, it really doesn't matter where Jesus is supposed to return.

He will have to travel to a, primarily, Christian culture for any of his works to be seen or heard, though.
And then will he be heard over the roar of X-boxes, plasma screens and i-Pods ?

Jack My point precisely. What if he was?

Andrea I'm absolutely convinced we'd brush him aside. We'd think he was absolutely potty. And if he did produce wine from water (just for China), we'd say he was a clever magician, wouldn't we? And the Christians would be up in arms! How dare he claim such a thing!!

Waldo Can't be too definite, can they? They might be proven wrong. Wishy-washy is far easier to spout than anything positive. Wishy-washy can mean whatever people want it to mean - and sadly, it seems, it does.

Keyplus Jesus isn't viewed by Islam in the same way as he's viewed by Christianity. Jack's got the right idea. This question is for Christians - for those who believe Jesus is not just a prophet, but that he's the son of God, and indeed God himself.
Ok I will let them answer your question.
Question Author
Keyplus It's fine to answer if you're trying to imagine what Christians would do if Jesus returned, but there's no point in telling us what Islam thinks of Jesus, or when Islam expects him to re-appear. Islam is completely irrelevant to this question.
keyplus. you said as a muslim you believed in jesus' miraculous birth but this is not waht muslims believe. they believe he was born like anyother human being or prophet.

only christians believe in the miraculous birth of jesus
Perigra- I am not sure what you are saying. Can you please explain what you think I am saying.

Mani - I am talking about the belief that among Muslims Beard is considered somewhat compulsory. And there are more Muslims relatively who grow beard.

But surely jews had beards in those days - as many do now. What does that have to do with anything?
Jesus wouldn't be allowed into this country without a passport. He'd probably be on the terrorist database even though all that stuff in Palestine happened years ago.

He'll be denied entry because it might upset those delicate flowers, the fundamentalist Muslims. He'd definately p*ss off the mad mental Israeli secret service.

If he did come back he would probably do the Extraordinary Rendition Tour followed by some time 'finding himself' in Guantanamo Bay.

PS. There's nothing in the bible about Jesus having a beard. Could he be the new face of Gillette - the best the son of man can get?
keyplus. what are you not getting.

you said that you are a muslim but you also believe in jesus' miraculous birth (virgin birth)

the muslim faith does not believe in this. they believe that he was not born of a virgin and he is not the sun of god.

Question Author
perigra, this is the answer Keyplus gave to the same question on another thread.

Miraculus was that Marry (pbuh) gave him birth without being involved in sexual activity with a mortal.

I believe in his Miraculous Birth without any human intervention.

However, he also said that God 'begetteth not nor is He begotten', but failed to explain how Mary became pregnant. It wasn't God, and it wasn't man, but someone must have been responsible. To the best of my knowledge, women don't become pregnant by themselves.

thanks naomi. need to read my koran again :)
