We have a Cafe where I live, where you can get the most marvellous full 'English' breakfast, they also serve Pork Chops.
This cafe is run and staffed by practicing Muslims, they cook everything on the premises, which means touching it.
I'm not having a knock at them, but I would have thought that serving this kind of fare wouldn't have been allowed by their faith,
My question is,
Is it?.

But finally it depends upon faith as for few that extreme case may come as soon as the first customer come in and then walks away not finding what he was looking for and for others that extreme may never come due to the strength of their faith. I know where I once lived near there were few restaurants run by Muslims. Few served alcohol because they did not want to lose the business but one restaurant never sold alcohol and in the end that was still there when others sold the business and went home. It wasn't even Muslim majority area.

Thanks for your reply Octavius, that possibility did cross my mind, because in the Jewish religion, dispensation is given for any no Kosher foods for medical resons, but of course, this isn't medical.
keyplus,
Thanks very much for that link, it explains a lot, and as I said, these people are practicing, so I would imagine they'd have researched first.
Most interesting.

Vegetarian butchers is a nice one.
I worked in a restaurant myself when I was a student. I had just arrived from Pakistan at that time (couple of months) and making pizza included touching ham & bacon. I did feel bad but had to do it because it was part of the job. After few days manageress herself asked me if being Muslim I was Ok doing that (nice of her) I said that I dont like it but if it is part of job then of course I will do it unless I have another choice. She gave me the other choice and she moved me into dessert section.

Yes exactly and that refers to my first post. It is a matter of faith. Few will not have strong faith weather they can survive without selling forbidden things or not and few are who would go on to put their whole career or life only thinking that few in this life will never be better than what is in the life after death.

Hello Lonnie, their 'faith' doesn't allow it, but I've been to several Muslim countries, and whilst I've never been served pork, alcohol was readily available. I guess sometimes the money means more. I don't suppose you can blame them - they're in business, making a living, and they're serving what their customers want to buy.
