Whenever someone dies and ends up in heaven/hell are they there as they were on earth or is it just their soul which ends up there? Also, are people who died before god was invented there or do you have to believe in that stuff for it to take effect?

I believe heaven is a spiritual realm there is no physicality in heaven only the pureness of joy.
It would all depend on which sect, and which religion, eg, I am Jewish, so our souls, if there is such a thing, go to heaven, where all our great Patriarch, Abraham, Moses etc, now dwell.

My brother, who became a Christian,C of E, believes that only those that have accepted Jesus, (no-one before), can go to heaven.

Of cours, some have, if you believe literally the holy writings, physically gone to heaven, so your question could open up a nice little debate.

I'd like to see keyplus's view on this.

to put it simply, death is a gate, just as with any other gate we pass through, have you ever encountered a gate when there was nothing on the other side, been there done that, next?

At 1640 (or twenty to five) he was just coming out of the hospital for weirdos.
I believe that in the heaven or the hell people would have some sort of body. It may not be like the one we have in this world. Because this life and body is not eternal and that is the reason we need to eat, drinks etc. I think in the heaven people would not need these things as that is eternal life.

As far as hell is concerned there may be somewhat same kind of body as there are few verses in Quran that describes about replacing the skin of the sinner when it is burnt to make him suffer due to the pain, now doctors even talk about the presence of pain receptors in the skin. Then at another place in the Quran it is written in the response to few people's disbelief that how once they are dead with rotten bones then they would be brought back to alive again, God says that he is capable to reconstruct very tip of your finger just like before. That refers to finger prints which is very much individual to every single human.

In the end no one has been there and back so lets wait and see.

Yeah thats right that someone could possibly be say for example Hitler, if he did kill all those millions of people. Is it injustice? Or would you rather have every single person swept with the same brush regardless of what they did?

Ok I know people here are against death penalty so lets talk about imprisonment. How many years do you get for killing one person? And how many years one should get for killing millions?

Afterall punishment should be like punishment and not a holiday.
Well since I believe in reincarnation it's all a bit of a moot point to me, but aside from being tortured by that rather wonderful God you have Keyplus what the hell would be the point in having a body in heaven or hell? Is it just so that a Charles Manson style of higher being can wreak his revenge on people who have misbeahved or do the well behaved ones get all sorts of nice treats?

I am indeed Wiz, I can't sign in under noxlumos for some reason much as I'd like to, this user name gives people far too much ammo against me since I am fairly Obnoxious on occasion. I've lost count of the times I've been told I'm well named:)

If by Christian hell you mean the hell Jesus (pbuh) must have spoken of then that would not be different from the hell Islam tells about. However if the hell you are referring to is as per Bible we know, then I will have to ask which bible? written by whom? Verified by whom?. I have no doubt that Jesus (pbuh) and Muhammad (pbuh) talked about the same hell/heaven and the same GOD. Jesus (pbuh) always talked about One and only one GOD.
Verified by whom? That's funny. None of it can be verified by anyone.

I wonder why this barbaric God is 'hell bent' on torturous punishment after death, rather than education? It hardly seems a civilised or loving course of action. Perhaps the Buddhists have it right. Perhaps in order to learn his lessons, Hitler is now a worm and has to begin his quest for eventual enlightenment again. (Apologies to all worms).

I don't believe heaven or hell exist, but I believe the soul survives death, and I think that's always been so - even before man invented God. I don't believe that souls have a physical body, but I think they can manifest in an apparently physical form.

I thought you were certain of that?
That is a very nice example given by Naomi But one thing is sure that all these theories or philosophies of reincarnation or rebirth whatever you want to call them refers to one thing that when a human misbehaves then they come back to this world in a bit inferior form (for punishment) as in Naomi's example Hitler as a Worm.

Then if they behave, they could be brought back as human (up grading) again. Looking at the ever growing population of this world, it gives us two scenarios,

1. Seems like a good number of worms are behaving well.
2. Or there are lesser sins in this world than ever before.

Now which one you agree with, let me know;
