Rose from India has called me twice now
She says my internet provider (BT)has noted a number of possible dodgy attempts to access my internet. I have told her to hold on and left her listening to the tv - the thing is she has called me back and that makes me wonder if it’s real?

Absolutely 100% Rich....for a start, no one in India is called Rose, and secondly, she most certainly is not calling from BT.

I keep a referees whistle by the phone, and give as loud a blast as I can manage down the phone !

Another good option is to hand the phone over to a toddler....if you have one handy !

.... these scammers are persistent - after all, the phone call is for THEIR benefit, not yours.

I don’t have a landline it’s my mums phone she’s ringing and she’s 90 and just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s! She’s not in but won’t have a clue if she answers it - luckily she won’t be able to give her any important details either. The really are the scum of the earth though aren’t they

As said block her number all phones allow you to do it.

Landlines still allow you to block numbers, just do it for your Mum.

There are many, many numbers Eddie, perhaps somebody like, oh I don't know, BT should be tasked with sorting this sort of rubbish out by technical means.
In the meantime I consider it an invitation to be as foul mouthed as I know how with these thieves.

Ric, can you go to your Mums and sort the blocker out for her? If not contact BT & complain that your Mum is getting harassed by these people, they should be able to block it for her.

When Rose next calls ask her if you can speak to Raj. He was the one I spoke to when I visited my 90+ year old mother and answered her phone. After going through the spiel, he asked me to turn my computer on. I left him on hold for 5 minutes or so then I told him I could not do that. He asked me why not? I told him I could not reach the switch. Why not? he asked. Because it is 25 miles away from my hand. For some strange reason the call suddenly ended - How Odd?
