starting in defence for barca, you would think it would be a bonus for utd, however with his midfield experience he will read the game and see where the problems are developing before other defenders may, and to top it off hes ex liverpool so he will be well pumped up for it, as this proved during the game and in the after match comments he made.......

Mascherano wasn't seriously tested as a defender because Barcelona dominated the game and United's forwards rarely threatened

ah I see i knew that there was a good reason United won their 19th title... it was because of the disruptions at Chelsea, not because every team that they played wanted to beat the 'champions' as were. Also not the fact that United kept playing and grinding out results. I understand now.

United were abysmal last night but were outclassed.
